They called the day of our arrival stating that they do not allow truck campers. They then said they would refund our full deposit. THEY DID NOT!!!!! They kept $100 and were quite rude!!! Our rig combined totals almost $400,000... It is a brand new Northern light and brand new 450. They took our reservation and our money when we were hours away with no place left to go thank you so much for your unforgettable hospitality!!!! We will inform everyone in the community to steer clear of this crappy resort.
Update
The original date we made our reservation was January 19, 2025. This place waited until the day of arrival to confirm??? Also, half of the original deposit was refunded initially. The other half was only refunded once I called and told this place they would receive a not so nice review.
You should specify that truck campers are not welcome or just be a better human and allow someone to stay the first night. Offer to help them find other accommodations more fitting since you choose to deny the stay. That would be the human thing to do!! Oh wait I forget....new world!!
KOA HERE WE COME!!! STICK WITH WHAT'S ALWAYS BEEN!!!

Booked online and paid $120 for one night while in town for Gasparilla as a family weekend. The park is clean but feels more like sleeping in an RV dealership parking lot than real camping — clearly geared toward a specific glamping-style crowd.
Our trailer was questioned at check-in, and at checkout I asked for clarification we were told directly that no conversions are allowed. This was confusing considering the resort itself uses converted shipping containers for facilities like the wellness center. It wasn’t clearly communicated during booking, so just be aware if you have a converted or older rig — it made what should’ve been a relaxing stay feel uncomfortable.

I resided here at the park for 5 months and it was beautiful and well worth it! I was here during the summer. I work a lot but whenever I had time off I would spend time in the pool, walking around the park looking at nature, the crabs, ducks, birds, and lizards. I really enjoyed the wildlife here, especially with it being right in your backyard!! There is a couple docks by the bayou where you can meditate and relax. You can even watch for manatees in the winter time when they’re migrating I’ve heard! I didn’t get a chance to kayak while I was there, but there’s a kayak launch. It felt like a nature getaway! There is a ton of shade on most of the sites which help kept my camper cool in the summertime! The bathrooms and laundry facilities were very clean and well maintained! It is very close to everything! Only 30-45 minutes away from the beach, 30 minutes to both Clearwater and Tampa. The price really isn’t too bad for the quality of everything you get here at the park! The staff was also very accommodating, I had to move at the last second and they were very understanding. I wish I could’ve lived here for forever! Definitely the best RV park/resort I’ve ever been to! Would highly recommend it.

I don't have a ton of experience but this place is centrally located near parks and trails and many Florida recreational areas that are excellent. The resort is secure. Peaceful and tge spaces are pretty nice. Ive seen bigger sites but the old trees and the tranquility here is excellent. People are great and very helpful. Prices are average but for what you get I'll be coming back for sure.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience so far at Bay Bayou. Every aspect of our booking to our check-in has been positive. Each staff member we've interacted with has been friendly and warm - a special shoutout to nighttime security going above and beyond to help us with our late check-in. The fact that everyone here is so patient and flexible is a testament to the fact that they genuinely want to provide a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for short and long-term guests. Beyond the customer service, the amenities here are great. I am thoroughly impressed with the cleanliness here and just how often the grounds are tended to. The rules here are fair and well-established, and it does seem like everyone follows them. I can tell that Bay Bayou attracts more seasoned RVers because the environment here is extremely peaceful and friendly. I've had no worries taking a walk in the middle of the night with my headlamp - not only because the guests here maintain a safe place, but with the added benefit of security checking the grounds throughout the night.
