We have been coming to Winfield every month for years. It’s also peaceful and quite and clean. Nannette and Tonya are also amazing. Love to see there smiling faces every month

The host was very helpful and friendly. The park was very well maintained and extremely clean. We were there beginning of the week and it was very quiet. We will definitely be coming back again in the future.

We LOVE, LOVE Winfield campground. We have been visiting there for four years. It used to be our "closest to our home" campground and now we live almost 400 miles away and STILL love it! The only warning is "ants". The ants are over the top horrible. We are even aware of how bad they are, but this trip, we found a new way to be infested by ants. We treated all of our "touch points" on arrival. But didn't think about treating our firewood bag that gets put under the camper on site, then in the bed of the truck to travel.
So, loaded up and moved down the road to a GA state park. As we were getting unpacked for the night, we discovered that our truck was completely infested with ants - like billions of ants running around every single door gasket, the entire back bed, coming into the cab, in the engine... Little brown ants - rivers of ants. We had to spray all the door frames, the back seat, the entire bed, the edges around the engine, the window frames... it was horrible. Then we spent the rest of our 5 hour drive the next day killing the stragglers in the cab.
Word to the wise - never, ever lean anything against your camper (like fishing poles) because the ants run up them. (Our camper was infested with billions of ants in 2019). Never put anything into your camper that came in contact with the ground at Winfield that wasn't sprayed with pesticide. Spray your truck tires and don't lean anything against your truck (like fishing poles). Use diatomaceous earth or other non-toxic/low toxic to treat any contact points at the campsite (your jacks, your tongue, your stairs, your hoses, your electrical cord). Anything that touches the ground is a conduit for ants to come inside and they are horrible to kill. These bite, tho not as badly as fire ants. If crawling critters wierds you out - treat well or camp elsewhere.
We will be back but ugh. Winfield needs to treat for ants. And weedwhack around the power poles, etc.

Stunning lakefront campsites with woods dividing most sites making them more private. The campground hosts were extremely helpful and accommodating. There is a Publix about 20 minute drive away in Evans outskirts of Augusta. I will continue to return to this campground.

Great camp hosts. Big clean sites. It's a shame people don't cancel sites instead of showing up. Several great sites unoccupied for the weekend.

To all other COE campgrounds, if you want to be a GREAT campground, this is the one to beat! I can see how some sites may get muddy if it rains, but that is where the cons stop. The hosts were UNBELIEVABLE (and they are not related to us). Here are the things we like. 1) Hosts and staff work ALL the time cleaning and fixing up the park. Annette, at the gate is friendly and VERY helpful. Her parents are volunteers there! 2) Clean? We even saw Tanya (sp?) actually cleaning a stop sign so it continued to look new. They take pride in their work, and it shows. Restrooms were old, but very clean and the hosts even supplied hand soap and toilet paper (that you could not even see through) at their expense. 3) Small American Flags at every site and most sites are on the lake! 4) Our site was very clean and blown off when we arrived and even the fire ring was raised and cleaned. 5) Another rarity was a male end on the water hose at the dump site for a black tank flush! 6) At the host's expense, they put frequent little speed limit signs to remind us all. 7) My wife and I would follow these hosts to ANY site they might host!
