What Guests Are Saying

Whitetail Ridge offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience with friendly staff and well-maintained facilities. Many campers enjoyed the spacious, clean sites with lovely views of the lake, perfect for relaxation and outdoor activities like fishing and kayaking. However, recurring ant infestations and some dated restroom facilities were notable concerns, especially for those camping in tents; overall, it remains a favored destination for camping enthusiasts.

My wife and i are senior citizens who recently bought a class B camper van to be able to explore our part of the world. We have watched a lot of You Tubes about van life and discovered the Corps of engineers campsites around the SE US. Among those was a beautiful CG just across the Georgia line called Whitetail ridge on the shore of beautiful West Point lake. With our America the beautiful lifetime senior pass it was just 13 dollars a night! We were blown away by the privacy and sheer beauty at site 16.. We have found COE campsites to be larger than a standard state park site, usually set up on an amazing body of water where we could easily set up out Bote, walk our doodle, and enjoy an amazing sunset.. There are typically less glitzy facilities on COE campgrounds and bathroom facilities and trash dumpsters were pretty far away from our secluded cul de sac at site 16.. This was a minor inconvenience tho because our Pleasure Way van is fully self contained. The bottom line was we had a great time in a beautiful park with friendly staff and would recommend Whitetail Ridge highly and will definately consider another trip there in the future.

The camp grounds were ok but they need to something about the ants on each site the ants got in our trailer and we spent a gallon jug of poison on them every night just to get to sleep glad they didn’t bite or we would have spent our time at the hospital

We've had many pleasant stays at the different sites at Whitetail Ridge, and I've never had a problem with ants before this stay. The ants were marching up my water connection like in the Disney Movie, but they didn't go thump, thumpa thump, they just came in. And in, and in.
The Ranger at the gate said they're pretty bad this year, because everyone just dumps out their cokes and sweet tea. Anyhow, you asked, so there it is. I'll be back, because we're really attached to the Campground, but I'll surely look around before hooking up..

Excellent campground. Most sites are large with plenty of trees and space between other sites. Bath houses are old but kept very clean. Highly recommend Whitetail Ridge and will be returning soon.
