Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area is praised for its cleanliness, beautiful scenery, and well-maintained facilities, providing a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. Many visitors appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, the spacious campsites, and the enjoyable hiking trails. Staff extremely friendly, cabin clean and fully-equipped, campsites a splendid place for our Blood Mt. reunion. This was the 42nd year without a miss that our group has met the third weekend of October to climb Blood Mt. and celebrate what we call our New Year!

My first time and I loved LWS! Stayed in South Loop site #10 with one large tent/one vehicle. Plenty of room! Close to bathhouse. Very peaceful & quiet. Site was clean. Great trees to hang ENO hammock. Fall colors were great. Campsite hosts are great and make their rounds regularly, and are generous with info and advice. South Loop bathrooms could be updated a bit but they were clean (and that's what counts). Beach bathhouse by the lake is very updated, large, and has multiple sinks, stalls, and showers (more elbow room for all). Advice: if the leaves have fallen, bring a small rake to remove the leaves from tent pad. Allows tent/footprint to lay flatter and keep any rain water from collecting underneath. I had a great time and I will be back!

A nice, quiet campground! We were told they will be getting new bathroooms come 2021:o) Bathrooms are clean, however shower ran super hot and toilets didn’t flush well. We will definitely be back in the future!

Great campground setup - would love to see it in the summer to enjoy the water activities. Was surprised at the easy access to the Appalachian Trail so it was awesome to be able to get some time on it and the beautiful scenery so close to the campground.

Great get-away-location with no internet service (a great thing!)! No remote workers, virtual students or streaming! You have to camp! Nice spacious campsites, nice restrooms, hot showers. Beautiful lake, scenic and peaceful. Plenty of hiking opportunities.

We have visited Lake Winfield Scott three different times in 2020. Our visits have been good. The campground Managers Dan and Ruth Ann Brightwell are very nice and helpful. It is nice being able to buy firewood and ice at the campground. More gravel on the campsites would help with the mud when it rains (and it rains a lot at LWS). There are many day trips that can be enjoyed from LWS. Brasstown Bald, Blairsville, and a lot of waterfall trails are good places to visit. One can access and hike on the AT from the campground by using the Slaughter Gap Creek or the Garrard access trail. We look forward to being able to camp at LWS next year!

Beautiful small campground tucked away in the North Georgia mountains. Sites were spaced apart well, wooded, and peaceful. Nice restroom facilities with hot showers. We stayed on RV sites 14 & 12. Bring some leveling blocks as the pull throughs are not level. Both beautiful sites with trails running behind along the woodline.

Lovely spot, tucked back a bit from the road. Not so close to the bathrooms, but more private than some spots.

It’s our favorite campground. Quiet, great hiking, lovely lake to swim, friendly host, clean bathroom, and cool nights in the Summer.
