The pavilion was clean and tables were set up. Restrooms were in good order. The gate to the site was open and lights and power in the pavilion were on. Everything was perfectly prepared for our special day. Most appreciative of the current managers and hosts for their help and support.

We have been going to Lake Winfield Scott for the last 20 years as a family. My husband has been going with his family for many many years before we even met. We have never had a bad experience! We love going here. Only issue this trip was the lack of maintenance for the entire campground. The road are absolutely horrible (which I’m sure is from the trash trucks) but horrible nonetheless. All of the beds in the cabin needing replacing. They’re not comfortable at all. That poor driveway would be amazing if it was paved. These things still do not make for a bad trip. We continue to go every single year. Just thought a mention of them would be nice.

What a lovely, quiet campground! The sites were spaced nicely with loads of trees and mountain laurel. The lake is very beautiful and tranquil. The bathrooms need updating and the campground House told us that the campground is closing the end of this summer and will be closed all next year for updating. A real gem in the mountains.

We enjoyed the cabin, but were very let down at the same time. We have been here several times. It now has Air Conditioning which is nice, but we weren't aware because it's not on the website. We brought extra fans and such that we didn't need. Information is valuable. Please share it freely. There were several necessities in the kitchen that were short; we ended up going to Dahlonega ov er the curvy, foggy steep mountain roads to get them in the dark. These are cheap items that should have been there as advertised, but were missing. Can openers are essential kitchen items for the last 100 years. Spoons are too. Not much can replace these items when you're trying to cook a meal for a large family. There was a bed that was demolished before our arrival. We needed every bed for our group. We took it upon ourselves to fix and reassemble the bed. It is unkind for the staff of Lake Winfield Scott to overlook or neglect the furnishings that we paid to use. Who want to choose which of their friends or family has to sleep on the floor? No one. We enjoyed the cabin and our time there, but these simple yet obvious and inconvenient flaws dropped a 5-Star stay to a 2-Star.

It is a very clean area. My only concern is the difficulty to carry items to the location. You need to be able to walk long distances. Unfortunately I have had two knee surgeries and back surgery. The lake wasn't open for swimming due to high bacteria levels. Unfortunate for the kids. But we did have a blessed day with the beautiful scenery!
