We loved the campground. We stayed one night on 68–very private site and perfect. We moved to 29 for the next two nights. Spacious sites! Wide roads and easy to maneuver big rigs….but, watch out for the camp host—he rides around on his bicycle looking for reasons to get onto you. We had guests come to eat dinner and visit and they were to leave at 10pm. As they were getting ready to go, he showed up at 10:01pm and told them to leave. I understand that is camp rules, so no big deal. But, then He showed up at our site the next day at 9pm and told us we were too loud. We were camping with others, had several kids and we were gathered around the fire and kids playing with many others in the campground. I questioned quiet time hours as I thought they started at 10pm and didn’t think we were being loud. He said that it didn’t matter, no noise was tolerated at any time. After he left our site, he went up to others—I am sure for the same reasons. At the time of our departure, I visited with some other campers and they made mention of how he was just waiting around looking for reasons to be on the warpath. One gentleman told me that the camp host warned him about there being a “heard of kids staying down there near him” as if that was a bad thing. We had an event to attend the day of checkout and returned at 1pm to get packed up for the 3pm checkout time. He again was riding his bike making sure everyone was packing up. Of note, we were out by 2:15. We loved the campground and would love to go back, but the host made this not a very good experience and the campground didn’t seem very family friendly. His wife was exceptionally nice and very helpful! Im sure the hosts rotate, so would willing to try again and hope for a better experience.

Camp site was not clean when we checked in. Candy wrappers, beer can tabs and cigarette butts littered the ground. Limbs hung low on the trees above us and lay on top of the RV

Wonderful park and very friendly staff. Check in staff was very helpful and had good tips on how to get into the site. Staff is very good about patrolling and maintaining the grounds. Most of the sites seem to have a good amount of privacy especially where we were around 72 in that loop inner parts. All sites seemed to be very level. The lakeview sites are nice, I noticed several people going straight in with kayaks or canoes, that is pretty cool if you do that. Most sites are a mostly decent size for both parking and camp pads, but just a few we saw were small so if you're looking for a larger site be sure to read the details. Gravel was excellent a nice khaki color not nasty grey like the state parks. Restrooms are older and the showerheads could use an update but in my opinion they were fine. The staff kept them cleaned and that's what is important. If you're looking for an RV park with updated bathrooms then go to an RV park with updated bathrooms, how much time are you spending in there anyway? I did see a few tents but did not notice any tent only sites so if you're tenting may want to look elsewhere if you don't want to be surrounded by RV's. Fishing was not great I saw no pier or anything just an area off the day use beach and an unmarked area off the campground beach. The beach in the campground is more of a wader I think about 4 1/2 feet deep which was great for my 5 yr old. The day use beach looked deeper. I have to say though the beach sand was not very good. Was more like dirt. It had been rainy for days before our trip and two days into our trip so this may have been the cause. This is my first trip to Allatoona so I hope this is not the case with all the beaches. Lanier is a better beach experience so far in my book.. There are no hiking trails in this park so beware. You can get some good walks in but no trails. Overall I think this is a really good park and we had a blast laid out very well, clean, kid and pet friendly...
