My husband and I have camped here a few times, in a tent and a tentalow, and couldn't recommend it more. He works for a fancy hotel and gets discounted night so we like to stretch out the trip by going camping first for a few nights, and then on to the luxury. Fact is we are bummed to leave every time! a place to truly relax and a great base for day trips. The tentalows take all the stress out of camping...comes with comfy beds, fresh bedding, a cooler, and a private outdoor shower. don't need to bring anything. We could have stayed a month it was so chill. Fruit trees dropping snacks for the jungle fowl (fancy word for wild chickens). Great foodtruck pod across the road, farmers market too. The ocean is swimmable. the staff are kind, and the grounds and tentalows are super well kept - watching them clean was so reassuring. Its a fantastic campground that has even been improved in recent years rather than gettting worn down.

The truly amazing thing is we recently received a refund FROM 2017! they were looking at our account during a recent booking and noticed a double payment from way back then, and then sent a refund without us having to say anything. We hardly know what to say...that's just incredible customer service. So much aloha at Olowalu... all the stars!

We stayed for a week in a tent site, next to the beach. It's a nice campground, but you pay per person, not per site, which made it quite expensive for a patch of dirt & bathroom facilities.

It's excessively windy for tents. The site could improve greatly with more wind breaks for the tent sites - hedges or fences. We were lucky to have brought a good quality small tent that stood up to the wind, but many others we saw didn't - especially larger ones.

Bathroom facilities were ok. A roof over the showers would be helpful for rainy days. I had 1 cold shower, which we figured later, may have been due to the pilot light being blown out by the wind.

Can we come back now? Even though we just left Saturday?! This place was absolutely amazing. We did not want to spend resort money and we are avid campers so we brought our gear and checked into Camp Olowalu for 10 nights. Loved the gated entry. The staff was so friendly. The showers and toilets were always clean. Our site was 50 yards from the ocean. Amazing. Fell asleep every night listening to the ocean. Woke up and had my tea on the beach. The grounds were well maintained. I cant get over how amazing of an experience we had here! Can’t wait to come back! We even miss the chickens!

Greatest Camp Site on Maui, I live here but I go there solo or with friends or families, last trip I did solo retreat, I had to leave due to hurricane evacuation to go up higher ground. I did car camping this time, I have done tent camping and tentlow, I prefer tentlow the best!!! I love that it’s safe , secured and lots of happy campers doing their own thing. Love the staff they are all friendly, they keep facilities bathrooms , showers and property clean everyday. It’s way better than the hotels , it’s affordable and it has discounts too. Only one issue I have is getting booked , that camp is packed fast, I must reserve ASAP or else reservations are booked to the max, I am now trying to get in but there is no availability for dates I need, Other than that its FABULOUS, Can’t wait to camp out again!!! Aloha and Mahalo Camp Olowalu!!! I love y’all, thanks a million for making my staycation a great one!!! Bye for now…
Take care and God bless!!!

Our group of 24 recently stayed at Camp Olowalu for one week as part of a university trip. The cabin camping area was perfect for our needs, with a fire pit, direct beach access, laundry facilities, and a well-equipped kitchen complete with fridge, freezer, and appliances. It was fantastic.

The location is unbeatable, the facilities are exceptionally clean, and the staff—especially Tim—were attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout our visit.

I was in Cabin 6, which is the most handicap-friendly cabin since it does not have a step down like the first three cabins that sit on the shorefront, as well as being closest to the showers.

The cabins are well maintained, the beachfront is beautiful, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

There is an abundance of wildlife, including lizards, songbirds, and sea creatures. Although my camping companions weren’t fans, I enjoyed the chickens roaming around; I thought they were cute.

My experience at Camp Olowalu was overwhelmingly positive. The setting is peaceful, the facilities are well cared for, and the staff go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable.

I highly recommend Camp Olowalu to groups looking for a clean, scenic, and well-run place to stay on Maui.
