Haleakalā National Park offers a breathtaking and magical experience, especially for those who stay in the cabins. Many visitors praised the stunning night skies, unique landscapes, and well-maintained trails, making the backpacking journey memorable. However, some cabins, particularly Paliku and Holua, showed signs of wear and lacked essential supplies like toilet paper and wood, which detracted from the experience for some guests. Overall, the park's natural beauty and tranquility make it a worthwhile destination for adventure seekers.

Love staying in the cabins each time I’m lucky enough to grab a reservation. I find them usually stocked with pots, cups and silverware, which makes the trek in a little more enjoyable (not having to pack those small things). A hui ho

First post pandemic overnight stay at Kapalaoa cabin and so very glad to see the all the repairs: new floors, walls, roof were the most evident. THANK YOU NPS!! Cookware is back, but coffee mugs in short supply so BYO. The presto logs supplied by the Park are VERY hard to light so bring good firestarter cubes to help. (We have had this difficulty for years, so it's not restricted to this cabin or this time of year.) Finally, folks often kindly leave sponges, dish towels, soap, candles, but these accumulate, wear out, burn out with time. Try to add some of the more derelict, used up items to pack out with your own garbage. These cabins allow us all to experience the amazing quiet, the starry nights and the changing light of the unique landscape of the crater, so give a little love back to them when you can. :)

No running water at the cabin, and multiple mice spotted inside the cabin. A strong rodent smell was present in the kitchen area. Glad I only stayed one night, holua cabin is in rough shape.

We had a great time! The cabin is nice but it is very difficult to get a fire going with the supplied logs. Loved being able to stay in the crater overnight. Lovely!!!

My girlfriend and I had reserved Holua cabin for a night; when we got to the cabin another couple was already in the cabin and had also reserved the cabin for that same night...seems the cabin was double booked- At least there were only 2 other people and not 12.
