About Beaver Creek Cabin (ID)

The Beaver Creek Cabin site was established for administrative use in 1912. The current dwelling was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps using standard blueprints for that time. Beaver Creek Cabin is open year-round. It's accessible by car in the summer months and by snowshoes or cross-country skis in winter. Guests arriving in winter should park at the Whoop-Um-Up Park N' Ski Area (permit required) and access the 1.5 mile Pilgrim Trail to reach the cabin. The trail is moderately difficult in normal conditions, and guests are responsible for their own safety. The cabin offers many creature comforts for an enjoyable stay. However, several of the amenities are only available seasonally. Guests should be prepared to bring certain supplies or gear according to the season.

Cabin is in a beautiful location, the inside of the place is not clean. We cleaned for the 2 days we were there and it's still not clean. Other than that,it's a great spot!

Overall a very peaceful, quiet, pleasant experience.
The only improvement that could be made would be that the 2 sofas were worn.
The interior cabin bathroom was locked: not sure why but perhaps it was early in the season? However the exterior toilet outbuilding was open.

Bed/Mattress was disgusting, furniture was also in rough shape. Wood stove was not in the best working order as it was difficult to retain any heat for the cabin. (instructions for that particular woodstove would have been nice to have). The trail from Whoop-Em Up parking area to Beaver Creek cabin was challenging to find and stay on. Poorly marked to say the least. Don't know if I would recommend as is but would recommend that others bring good bedding/sleeping bags, porta-cot, air mattress, etc. On the positive-inexpensive night out in the woods, decent snowshoe hike into the cabin, and plenty of snow to have fun.

I love this location. It's so private and beautiful. The nearby Beaver Creek trail is very nice and mostly shaded.
BUT the cabin is poorly stocked with kitchen utensils and dishes. We made due with some plastic cutlery and cups left from previous guests. Recommend bringing what you need to cook and serve food. There are pots and pans but most are in terrible condition.
Also, there are mice so don't leave any food out on the kitchen cabinets or in open storage boxes.
Futon beds are not comfortable so recommend bringing an air mattress to place on top.
We'll rent again and next be better prepared.

we tried to snowshoe in on Friday, march 19, 2021. the trail over Edna creek has melted and there is no safe pass from Whoop Um Up parking Lot. Either the USFS needs to advise users to park north of the cabin and take FS road south, or cancel future reservations. Simply put, it is not safe.

Amazing tranquil location to spend a few nights in the winter (with kids)! Only complaint would be the amenities. There was no large stock pot for melting snow and no cooking utensils. We had previously called the Forest Service to inquire about the cooking amenities but they hadn't ever been to the cabin and didn't have any info. The beds in the pictures are also no longer there. There were two twin beds, no queen bed and bunkbeds like the online pictures. The futons in the living room are shot, don't plan on sleeping on those!
