About Beaver Creek Cabin (ID)

The Beaver Creek Cabin site was established for administrative use in 1912. The current dwelling was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps using standard blueprints for that time. Beaver Creek Cabin is open year-round. It's accessible by car in the summer months and by snowshoes or cross-country skis in winter. Guests arriving in winter should park at the Whoop-Um-Up Park N' Ski Area (permit required) and access the 1.5 mi Pilgrim Trail to reach the cabin. The trail is moderately difficult in normal conditions, and guests are responsible for their own safety. The cabin offers many creature comforts for an enjoyable stay. However, several of the amenities are only available seasonally. Guests should be prepared to bring certain supplies or gear according to the season.

Longtime forest service cabin renters. First time at the Beaver Creek cabin. Pros: super easy access in the summer months. The cabin was clean and it's always a treat to have a propane fridge and running water. Cons: close to Hwy21, so you can hear the traffic. Main con is the cabin was overrun with mice. We expect mice in cabins, especially in fall and winter, but in June was a surprise. We caught 6 mice in traps until we ran out. They were in the walls, on the counters, on the stove. Everything inside and around the cabin had mouse droppings. The most mice we've ever encountered at a forest service cabin or yurt. Pal accordingly and bring traps and steel wool to try and mitigate.

What a nice little cabin! We were a little concerned about mice after reading some of the other reviews, but none were seen. Not even droppings. We left 4 unused mouse traps in one of the drawers in case someone else needs them. It was heaven to have running water in the kitchen and bath, and a special treat to be able to take a hot shower after a day of 4-wheeling out in the dirt. Stove, oven and fridge all worked great. We did not have a fire as it was too warm. The cabin is well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. Bring your own TP, towels, bedding (sheets, sleeping bags & pillows). Will absolutely book this cabin again.
