Beautiful site! We stayed at site 1 which is right by the river. Listening to the river at night was amazing. Site was clean. We RV camped.

Black Rock CG is a great spot along the North Fork of the Boise River, and I've had some enjoyable trips there. What wasn't enjoyable this time around was the camper nearby who ran a generator all day long and stayed in their trailer. I have an idea that I'm hoping to promote to the Forest Service -- designate campgrounds similar to Black Rock as 'quiet'. No generators, etc. -- nature has a beautiful soundtrack of its own.

Loved the location, well water, and access to the river. The toilet paper ran out in the bathroom and one of the camp guest took it upon themselves to clean it up after someone else's unfortunate mess.

Love the campground! Easy access to the river. Stayed at site #9 with a 28 ft travel trailer...it was quite difficult to park with all the boulders, not enough room to turn the trailer and the truck, ended up running over the top of a boulder (I'm not a bad driver lol) but once in it was great! The water pump is a challenge. Not an actual pump but a crank so a lot of work to get 5 gallons of water - I chalk it up to good arm exercise. :) for trailering I recommend site #1 (also for access to be swimming) and site #2 - easy in easy out. The vault toilet was clean and didn't have a nasty odor I have sometimes experienced. The road in is bit rough but drive slow and you will be fine. I hope to stay there again soon.

From Idaho City, travel north on State Highway 21 for about two miles, to the Granite Creek/Rabbit Creek Road No. 327. Turn right and travel east for 18 mi on Road No. 327, to the campground. Be advised- FS road 327 is a dirt road that is only graded a couple of times a year. It can get very rough with washboarding and potholes.
Highway access
Black Rock Campground is accessible via Idaho State Highway 21, which is approximately 15 miles to the east. There are no interstates or major freeways in close proximity.

Arrival & departure
- Contact Idaho City Ranger District for campground inquiries at 208-392-3700; contact Recreation.gov for reservations and refunds.
Fires & fuel
- Obtain firewood near your destination and burn it on-site to prevent pests.
- Campfires are allowed only in designated fire rings unless restrictions apply.
Utilities
- Hand pump water is tested monthly; bring your own water supply in case of shutdown.
Pets
- Keep pets on a leash at all times.
Safety & rules
- No trash service is provided; pack in what you pack out.
Cancellation policy
- Last minute cancellations due to weather or smoke are non-refundable unless the campground is closed.
