What Guests Are Saying

Black Rock Campground is a beautiful and remote spot along the North Fork of the Boise River, offering a peaceful atmosphere with well-spaced sites and easy access to trails and swimming areas. While some amenities like the water pump and fire pits need attention, and issues with noise from generators and aggressive bees were noted, many campers enjoyed their experiences and appreciated the natural setting. Overall, it's recommended for those who come prepared and are seeking a rustic camping experience.

Love the campground! Easy access to the river. Stayed at site #9 with a 28ft travel trailer...it was quite difficult to park with all the boulders, not enough room to turn the trailer and the truck, ended up running over the top of a boulder (I'm not a bad driver lol) but once in it was great! The water pump is a challenge. Not an actual pump but a crank so a lot of work to get 5 gallons of water - I chalk it up to good arm exercise. :) for trailering I recommend site #1 (also for access to be swimming) and site #2 - easy in easy out. The vault toilet was clean and didn't have a nasty odor I have sometimes experienced. The road in is bit rough but drive slow and you will be fine. I hope to stay there again soon.

The campers before us at site #6 left their bag of garbage that we had to haul out. We noticed the dirt road was widened in places. Thx for that. The experience was excellent. We will be back next year.

The campground itself was very nice. Spot #3 was probably the best we seen there. So much room for being a single spot. Thankfully I read reviews prior to learn the bathroom is always out of toilet paper, so we brought our own. Good thing too, because it was out the whole time we were there. My only draw back to this campground was all the dogs running around off leash and wondering in to our campsite. Thankfully my dog WAS leashed and with someone at all times. Other issues were the running of the generators at 7am till almost midnight. Wasn't fun being woken up so early. This campground needs a camp host. If this happened, I think we would stay here again. Area was great and not that bad of a drive to get to. Also a good thing to know, this campground doesn't have garbage service. You pack it in, you pack it out.

We have been going to Black Rock for over 10 years. We like it because it is close to home and far enough away . There are no electric hookups so it keeps it like a boondocking experience. There is a water pump for fresh drinking water and a vaulted type toilet.Just a good place to camp

Blackrock is a great campground with easy access to the river. It is 20 miles down FS 327, which is not paved. But we took it with our travel trailer and did not have an issue. The entrance seems steep and narrow, but it is manageable.

The sites are pretty well spread out. For RVs, I would recommend not staying in the first 3 sites as they are small and have lots of obstacles.
