Buffalo Campground is located 26 miles south of West Yellowstone, Montana and 25 miles north of Ashton, Idaho in beautiful Island Park, Idaho. Buffalo is a large campground just off U.S. Highway 20 on the banks of the Buffalo River at an elevation of 6,200 feet. We love camping here. we go on lots of bike rides, paddle board at the reservoir, float the Buffalo, kayak Box Canyon, and bond as a family.

The campsite was very organized and clean. The site was marked and ready for use when we arrived. The only thing that might have improved the site is if it sat back further from the road since the road noise is audible at night. Otherwise, a great location. Also, compared to other campsites I've visited the sites lack privacy. You have neighbors quite close by. Still, our stay was very enjoyable.
