What Guests Are Saying
Montpelier Canyon Campground offers beautiful scenery and a quiet atmosphere, particularly after highway traffic subsides. While some sites are small and certain facilities, like restrooms, have faced maintenance issues and vandalism, the campground still provides a pleasant experience for small groups. Reviewers appreciated the natural surroundings and firewood availability, though it's recommended to bring your own water.

This was a beautiful campground; however, the sites were a little small, there was a bit of road noise, and when we visited, the bathroom was out of order due to vandalism.

Terrible experience. My family and I camp a lot and this is the worst campground we've stayed at. Our site (#3) was overgrown and not flat for setting up a tent. The restroom was "closed due to vandalism" so we had to drive into town to use the restroom. I would not ever book a site at this campground again.

The latrine at the campground was closed due to vandalism. Instead of the USFS providing portable toilets or closing the campground all together, they left it unkept. There was human feces and toilet paper along the stream, around the closed latrine, and in various nooks by other campsites. Our camper was self contained and we were, fortunately, far away from the dumping grounds.

The campground appears to no longer maitained. It has been great for the previous 3 years, but not this year. Multiple sites have been over grown with brush and the toilets on the east end have been vandalized amd are no longer open. The other end of the camp does have an older bathroom facilty that is usable but it is a walk to get to it and you share one toilet with the entire campground.

The campsite is not being maintained properly. The table was rotted and broken, vegetation growing everywhere. The site is simply not being taken care of with love!

Really great campsite! It's small so it fit me and one other person really well (just enough room for a tent and my car). It could fit another tent so you could fit up to eight people, but it might get squishy. Really pretty site and a lot of wood lying around to use for a firepit. Toilets were good enough - as good as outhouses can get. No drinking water available, but if you bring your own water it works just fine.

Quiet campground once the nearby highway traffic dies down. Clean and no issues while we were there

Nice, quiet campground! We were tent camping and it was perfect for us. We definitely would not bring our large 5th wheel though, narrow roads with low over-hanging trees and tight turns. Small campground but had nice privacy with woods and a creek next to us. Bathrooms were okay— not the cleanest but could’ve been worse too. No showers and the only water spigot we saw was broken.

I honestly could have not asked for a more secluded and good experience. I would recommend camping here to anyone who just likes the outdoors and does not need extra frills. My spot had a creek running behind my tent spot and there is plenty to explore around the campground. Beautiful views and the stars were so beautiful!

This was a great little campsite! This is the 2nd year in a row that we have stayed here. The little river that runs through it is perfect to cool off in and then be right back at your campsite. We will definitely be making this a regular spot for our family to visit.
