Riley Creek Campground is praised for its beautiful, well-maintained setting, spacious sites, and excellent amenities, including a sandy beach and dog-friendly areas. Many guests highlight the friendly and accommodating staff, clean facilities, and great walking trails, making it a favorite spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts. However, some minor concerns were noted, such as challenges with tent anchoring and safety issues related to scooters and bikes in the campground.

Riley Creek is an excellent campground and the campground attendants were very helpful and polite.
One issue we had this year was with the park rangers. We found them to be very overzealous in their policing behaviour with unattended lawn chairs or boating toys. We get the need for people to clean up but if things were left on the beach for a half an hour, they were confiscating them and putting them in storage and then you had to go retrieve them. Nobody was complaining about items being stolen or in the way and we found that yes scrutinizing was very much over the top.

Love Riley Creek. So many services available that other COE and Forest Service sites do not have. All utilities is huge. If you are a tent or trailer camper I guess available showers would be a big perk. Have never used bathroom facilities but hear they are great. Sites are well spaced for privacy. Pets are welcome. Beach is well groomed and lawns are well kept. Our Scotties love the bunnies and the obnoxious squirrels. Sad but true. Nice walking trails as well as out on Riley Creek Park Drive too. Beautiful all the way around. Only sad part is weather can be so sketchy and one must book ahead to reserve a spot. Sometimes weather just lets you down. Hosts/attendants are great. Seriously helpful and knowledgeable.

Our family has been staying at Riley Creek Campground for 35+ years. I recently rented the Eagles nest for $70 to do an event with three large families , all the kids and the grandkids. We stayed at the campground for 8 days.
The day of the event, we set all of our stuff in the Eagle Nest group area at 10 AM in the morning. And when we went to get more stuff for the area from our campsite, someone had stolen things out of our cooler. This was our first experience like this at Riley Creek. Therefore; because we had planned on being at the beach and in the playground with all the kids we had to pack everything up and take back to the campsite. Our suburban would be too hot to keep things like a pinata full of chocolate candy and hersheys bars, etc for s’mores that night. We then had to go get it all again and unload it all for dinner and then load it back up again at the end. It turned out to be so much work for us, and a very, very stressful day!!! When I got a call from the Riley creek host asking why I was not at the site I explain to them how things have been stolen so we could not keep things over there like we had anticipated. They were extremely helpful, very responsive and I feel like they were really great. However, I paid $70 and we got to use that area for about an hour and a half of that day. I spent $420 that week on sites and that area. So, in the future we will not be doing events at Riley Creek. And I would recommend to future people who rent Eagles Nest group event area to be able to sit there for the whole time that they are renting it.

We have camped many times over the past 15 years at Riley Creek campground. We have enjoyed our times at Riley Creek, but the last few years it has been almost impossable to get a campsite. The process to get a site has taken the fun out of it.

Some how the same people are staying way beyond the 14 days! We met people at beach said they been there all summer! I don’t know if they are switching sites to other family or other rv’s but we have seen many Russian family’s that have like 8 sites in one loop and they are altogether and we were there for week of the 4th for 6 days and then came back Aug 17 -21st and 4 of the same families were there again and they stayed for full 14 days so they shouldn’t have been back! It’s getting harder and harder to get sites and somehow many have figured out how to cheat the system and are getting several sites and staying beyond the 14 day stay! We usually come 3 to 4 times for 3-4 nights for 12 plus years and we only got 2 camping times in this summer due to all this cheating the system that’s going on! Hopefully you are aware and put a stop to it to give others a fighting chance at a site for a few days!
