About Osprey

Campers come to Osprey for sunshine and boating at Priest Lake, and for breathtaking views of the rugged Selkirk Mountains. Fishing is also a big draw, with trout just waiting to be caught. While here, watch for moose, grizzly and black bears, wolves, mountain lions and deer. Osprey, as inferred by the campground name, also inhabit the area.

Many visitors appreciate the beautiful natural surroundings, including access to the lake and quiet atmosphere. This campground was great! Definitely worth the drive. We were on the lower half of the loop, which is against the lake. There is good water access and spacious campsites. We did have cell service (First Net) at the campground even though we didnt for part of the drive in.

Frustrated with campsite availability. Seems like people book long stretches and cancel part prior to arrival.

Beautiful and quiet campground. The sites are generously spaced out. There is running water in the bathrooms and they are so clean! Quiet hours were observed and it was a very pleasant experience! Will definitely be back.

Osprey is a wonderful campground! Jim continues to be a wonderful host year after year. I appreciate the low key vibe of the campground thanks to Jim.

This was the absolute filthiest public campground we have ever been to. The camp host site looked a homeless camp with their stuff strewn everywhere (septic hoses, water hoses, boxes, broken totes, random non- camping related junk). The bathrooms, which had running water and flush toilets, were disgusting, filthy and what most people would consider unsafe. We talked to the camp host twice while he was on his way to clean the toilets but they never got touched. The sink was black with filth and there is no way to describe how awful the toilets were. The trash bins were not emptied the entire 5 days that we were there. My husband and I take great pride in keeping our forests clean ( we live in NW Montana) and we couldn't believe that this was actually a national forest campground. We did report the issue to a local forest service station at Priest Lake. It is disappointing enough to pay $ 32 for dry camping and then to experience such a poorly managed campsite. Shame on the local rangers for not checking on the campground and shame on Scenic Canyons vendor for hiring such a lazy , messy , inconsiderate host!

Large, heavily forested, private sites. Sites 1-8 are on the upper road with no direct lake access and min water views. Sites 9-13 are waterfront and Sites 14 & 15 have water views. Good lakeside hiking trail. The "beaches" are more like small sandy coves. We launched our kayaks from 1 of them. Flush toilets, water spigot, and bear-proof trash bins are available. The host was very attentive and helpful. Cell srvc was spotty. We fished and caught smallmouth bass, trout, and brown suckers. The closest boat ramp is at Outlet bay about a mile away and parking looked min to none. The Tamrak, a few miles up the road, is an excellent grocery and hardware store.

Great time to camp...post Labor Day. Jim is an excellent host.
Recommendation: When I booked originally no sites were close to our friends. When we arrived there was a "no show" in a site closer to them so we moved. Why do I have to pay AGAIN when I already paid for a site. That is not very user friendly...I understand that Jim has to follow YOUR rules
