Great campsite! Going in early June meant that the cold meant there were little to no bugs. We had quiet and kind neighbors. The bathrooms were clean. The sites were level and in order. The host was very friendly and helpful. It didn’t get full 5 stars for only a few nit picky reasons. The fire pits have tall solid sides that don’t allow airflow into the fire. Also after the winter time the wood we purchased on site was either too cold or had enough moisture in it that only fanning the fire with a road sign we have in our camper could keep it lit. Starters and aids included it still took over an hour and the whole bundle to get some s'more's cooked. Finally it seems important that they should put in bear boxes for food storage. We didn’t see bears but there were signs and just recently they confirmed the presence of a grizzly north of Stanley recently. We secured our food but it’d be helpful to have.

Overall our experience at Alturas Lake Inlet has been great. Unfortunately, we had to evacuate because of a wildfire, however we were able to go to another campground.
The campground hosts, Linda and Larry, did a very good job keeping the campground in order and efficiently checking campers in. Since this was their last year, we hope you can replace them with someone who will continue their high standards.

I was lucky my site was still there. It was reopened to FF because I didn't get there on my first day.
I TRIED to cancel days and I was NOT able to.

Such a great campground. Great camp host. I appreciate combination of reservation- and walk-in-sites. Great food in Stanley. Ghost town and gold dredge on Yankee Fork of Salmon River amazing. Great biking on Fisher Creek trail. Great, and cold, swimming in lake.

Absolutely amazing! The lake is right next to the campsites so we took full advantage of that. The water was clean and surprisingly pretty warm. We kayaked, swam and fished. The campsites are mostly private and large with shade (at our site #15) with room for hammocks. Several trailheads are at the end of the road, 1.5 miles away. Highly highly recommend this campground and will be returning next year.

Alturas Lake has beautiful clean water and wonderful campsites not stacked on one another. The lake is great for just about any water activity with plenty of safe areas for the kids to play safely. The Camp Host/Manager Linda and her husband are amongst maybe the best at what they do we have ever experienced. Alturas is on our list of favorites!

The campground hosts, though efficient, were so grumpy that it seemed they set a bad tone at the campground. Our neighbor had a generator on 24 hours and we asked the hosts if that was OK...They did respond but made us feel to blame and that we should have told them earlier. We didn't want to tell them at midnight.
Also though campfires are allowed in rings..it seemed disconcerting that during an extreme fire year and the air full of smoke that people would have big smoky fires. It seems like fires should not be allowed in fire rings also.
