It’s a nice spot next to the river. It’s pretty urbanized so if you’re looking to find the wilderness this probably isn’t the place for you. If you’ve got a family it should be great! I didn’t fish at all personally but I saw a lot of people fishing so I assume there’s a lot of fish to be caught.

Campground is great! Well kept and lots of amenities. We walked both sides of the Kaskaskia river one over the dam daily. Highly recommend.

Another great affordable place to stop and rest a bit during travel. Open year round and close to water/dam, so it’s probably best to visit during the spring and summer months. Not that many “suspicious” visitors for small camper/van lifers which is a plus, because at night it’s quiet and private for a good nights rest

Camping along the spillway was incredible! A pair of bald eagles flew over us on several occasions, deer visited the park, seagulls dipped again and again in the water outside our window. It was quiet and serene - of course we camped over New Years’ weekend!
