Rude fee booth attendants. The firewood I bought would not stay lit. My whole experience was just so so. With all of the campgrounds in this area, I'm going to look around for another "go to" place.

One night in sight 13, excellent view of the River. Watched many different birds, including 8 eagles whirling about in a thermal above the mighty Miss. Well-kept park. Sad we only got one night. We will plan better on next trip.

The gate attendant was super nice and so were all the other park guests. The bathrooms and showers were fairly clean. My only qualm was the fact that a freight train runs by every morning and evening (and if I recall, the afternoon as well). It’s a little annoying, but not the worst thing. The sunset view is gorgeous.

We live just a few miles away from here. We love having a place close enough to drop what we're doing and get away for a few days. This is a nice quiet campground situated right on the Illinois bank of the Mississippi river. Just off the 1st eastbound Illinois exit.
The people that manage the facility keep everything looking nice. The perfect overnight spot if your traveling. You may even want to stay a few days.

Check-in is not straightforward. Asks you to call 5-8 pm but it's just an automated message saying that you still have to go to the booth. Also the only time to buy firewood which were small bundles compared to other campgrounds I've stayed at.
Highway traffic is loud and train tracks run right by grounds, so don't expect a nature-immersive camping experience. All our legs are covered in bites I believe to be from chiggers, even with lots of bug spray (which I get is not the grounds' fault, but be aware that it's an active area). The restroom with showers in the center was fine but the nearby pit toilet was not. Full of active bugs and bad enough smells where if your site is close you can smell it. Also, it should be in the rules that hammocks cannot be hung on trees. A ranger made my 12 year old sibling take it down while I was gone getting firewood. We wouldn't have even hung it had we known, even though we were using Leave No Trace straps. I suggest booking a site on the river side, near the center if you choose to stay here. As for me, I'll find somewhere else to camp next time I'm in the area.

Convenient and easy and wonderful location!
The park was clean and easy to navigate and considering its location near a well traveled thoroughfare, it was quiet and peaceful.

Nice roomy sites and great views of Mississippi River, including a lock and dam. Other campers were friendly and helpful. Lots of noise from nearby highway and train tracks. Odd check-in requirement never encountered at a COE campground before. We were threatened with “losing reservation” (pre-paid online) if we didn’t comply. Restroom and shower facilities were not as spotless as we have experienced at other COE campgrounds. Bugs, spiders, cobwebs on ceilings and new paint desperately needed on doors and outside railings.
