Coon Creek is a large campground that sits on the western shore of Lake Shelbyville in the heart of central Illinois. Families enjoy the playground, swimming area and shaded campsites within the facility. Peaceful camping.. All renewed bathroom's close to any camp site that are very accessible for every one.. water temp was perfect.. comfortable showers.....The attendants were very kind and helped me with their knowledge to stay a couple extra nights in the same site...

Great camping and although lots of campsites, they are separated into smaller groupings in order to feel more intimate. Beach, playground, and boat ramp are accessible by walking from all campsites. Campground can accommodate everything from tent camping to Class A rigs.
Two marinas, a winery, multiple state parks, and a forest are all within easy driving distance. Shelbyville is minutes away and will have anything you may have forgotten or need.

The campsites are large and the campgrounds are dog friendly. The camp gate workers are on site and very friendly. Great place to stay and we will definitely be back.

The only negatives were the nature trail within the campground was completely overgrown and there is no WiFi available.

  • Attention – Customers who do not arrive at the campground by on the day after scheduled arrival date will be No Showed. Please Review the R1S No Show policy for complete details.
  • Must have a reservation prior to setting up on site.
  • Must check-in at fee booth during normal operation hours.
  • No alcohol permitted in beach area.
  • Tent camping is always permitted, but not recommended for some sites
  • One RV and three tents or four tents per site
  • Two RVs and six tents, or eight tents for double sites
  • The banks are steep and it may be difficult to get to the water from many sites
  • No outside firewood allowed; obtain or purchase firewood at or near your camping destination and burn it on-site; firewood can carry invasive insects and diseases that destroy forests; learn more
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
