Coon Creek (IL)

Nice big secluded sites. New facilities. Pretty. Only complaint is weird fire/grill thing and it’s placement.

We had a great stay at Coon Creek. Can't wait to come back.

My 3 night mid week stay was great ! Quiet campground and very clean facilities .

We always enjoy going to Coon Creek.
It is one of our favorite camp grounds.

Site 35 Stayed for 4 nights. Large clean site, close to toilet and shower which were very clean. One night we had loud vulgar group accross the street. They were gone next am. Half the campground is updated the other areas for tents only are only gravel parking. Full hookup areas are paved. The swim beach was on other side of campground from us and looked well cared for and roped off. They have a large play area for kids with basketball hoops and sand volleyball. None of the sites we saw had easy access to the water. Paid $12 per night with senior pass.

great spot 212 , used to be a buddy spot but they put in a concrete picnic table and reduced it to one. new section all new black top,, new bathrooms, parking lot for boats. new entrance and 2 more dump stations. with any park you cant retro fit it all at once. only dislike no soap in the bathrooms, plenty of poop paper, but no soap. Oh and in 17 years we will not return due to the cicadas . it was so loud that you couldn't think straight . in the morning they sounded like frogs by 10 a.m just so loud where a general conversation you had to yell. that's mother nature for you

Absolutely phenomenal spot. There is one tent spot on the grass, but an air mattress in a tent on the cement worked well. It is a large plot at the end of a cul-de-sac, and there’s a trail that goes down to the water, which is a great spot to fish at. At night there are a ton of bugs, so make sure you bring citronella candles or a camp fogger.

Everything was awesome up until the last day. When there was confusion on a site being reserved. We were told everything was good by gate keeper. Then on the last day we had a run in with a not so friendly guy who spoke to a 50 year old man terribly using very foul language in front of you g kids. He was upset about the site not being empty. We talked to the gate keeper who was not the ones we talked to earlier. He said the site was not reserved in the computer. Even though we had a parking tag saying different. The rangers were called. This man was very understanding but the 2 guys causing the ruckus was upsetting him too. I offered to pay for the site next to us but he told me not to mess with them. We started packing up a day earlier while waiting for ranger. In the meantime the guy who wanted the site caused more trouble with gate keeper. Spike vulgarly to him and slammed the window shut on his hand. The police were called. These guys had a tent and were just staying one night. Sunday. The ranger showed up told us not to worry the troublemakers had let and police were after them. By this time my son and his family of 9 were packed up and left. Afraid of what might happen later. I left with our boat but husband stayed. The sites in question were 60 and 61. It was a scary deal since we had younger kids involved. I felt sorry for the gate keeper. I think he was scared too.
