Only negative is the mosquitoes ! Also in the bathrooms.
So bring bug spray. Otherwise it is a great place for relaxation, and the town of Findlay has a couple very good options for meals

The gentlemen who checked us in was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The ladies we met at the booth during the rest of our stay were very nice and we enjoyed chatting with them about their volunteer experiences. They even convinced us to give it a try. The campground was very nice and we enjoyed the bike rides and spending time on your beach. The park rangers were very nice and we were happy to see tem driving around frequently. There were only 2 things that happended that we did not like...... 1 was the freuent usuage of marijuana by one of the neighbors (yes we reported it but they couldn't do anything because they could not trace it to the exact sorce) and 2. twice when we went to the beach there was a group of children that were not accompanied by an adult. the park ranger even drove thru both times but never stopped at the beach to check things out. perhaps the ranger should get out of their truck and come down to the beach to have a good close look. When we were there we had Tornado watch 2 times and there is no warning system in the camp ground at all. We had to ask if the bathrooms or shower houses were the shelters (they are not marked) without a warning system the park ranger should have come around and alerted people that we needed to take cover. There is no internet at all and luckily we have a portable NOAA radio and were able to alert others and take cover.

Nice campground some sites need attention picnic tables need replaced on some lots. the fire pits - grilles are rusting out. looks like new liner welded in would resolve this issue.

Overall great experience. It was fun to see the family experience with our camp site(s) being far enough away from the noise! Site 176 is a great backin but Site 152 was a bit small and the grade a little steep for our 38" motorhome. Also, there was a lot of rain that week and the passenger side sank into the ground. The snap pads left a 2" to 3" hole by the time we left.

  • Attention – Customers who do not arrive at the campground by on the day after scheduled arrival date will be No Showed. Please Review the R1S No Show policy for complete details.
  • Must have a reservation prior to setting up on site.
  • Must check-in at fee booth during normal operation hours.
  • No alcohol permitted in beach area.
  • Tent camping is always permitted, but not recommended for some sites
  • One RV and three tents or four tents per site
  • Two RVs and six tents, or eight tents for double sites
  • The banks are steep and it may be difficult to get to the water from many sites
  • No outside firewood allowed; obtain or purchase firewood at or near your camping destination and burn it on-site; firewood can carry invasive insects and diseases that destroy forests; learn more
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
