What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

Excellent site and well maintained. Nice walk down to the river and the sites are tree covered.

We had a lovely stay at Rivets Birch Loop. The other two loops were still closed due to the recent flood and cleanup required.
The location is great as there is a lot to do. The only thing that caused a bit of a challenge were the gnats, bugs and mosquitoes but that we figured was due to the still waters surrounding the loop.

Thomson Causeway is a well kept RV Park with direct access to one of the best bike paths in Illinois. Stayed here many, many times. Stays pretty well full in Summer, plan ahead. It also has a boat ramp is directly on the Mississippi River (pool 13)

Campground is kept very well. Cleaning the Bath houses properly might be one thing that could use improvement. Otherwise great place to camp. Spots 54 through 78 can get very windy just an FYI. One thing that is annoying is many locals from the area (IA and IL) like to drive through a lot, creating much unnecessary traffic. Otherwise love it.

We have now camped in all the loops; and can't say one is better. We try to base the loop and site on time of year and predicted weather conditions.
GREAT CAMPGROUND. We have been coming hear for about 20 years; if that tells you something.

We enjoy Halloween but wish it was only for campground and not open to the public. That gets to be very expensive. Just have it open to the campground.
