What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

Our campsite, #67, was great, the view of the Mississippi River was excellent, especially the sunsets. The biting flies were bad but expected. A wind storm coming across the river was scary, but not the fault of the campground of course. The upgrade to the campsite with a water hookup was very nice and we liked the concrete pad even around the fire ring!

We were in the loop that was on the lily pad marsh (site 18). It had rained...other sites had flooded, roads and site pads stayed wet and muddy all weekend. The other two loops were beautiful 😍 and on the river. One note...many areas of mud caused by trucks not having enough room to back rigs in, and driving over the grassy area. Even if site accommodates your rig, the street is narrow. There is a hiking trail, but due to weather, we did not use. We will return, to one of the other loops.

Beautiful location with picturesque sunset views. Bugs were bit intense during the evening due to annual swarms at that time, but well worth it for the quiet & time with nature. My family will definitely return in the future.

When we got there at check in time we went to our site and some other people were in it. We were confused so we went to the front gate to talk to the attendant and told her. We said we would take another site nearby so we did. After setting up our site for almost an hour the people who were on our original site left. We had already set up so we stayed at the 2nd site. We were upset because we had booked that original site months ago. Other than that and the shadflies coming out of the river, it was nice.

Beautiful sites. I love that there is water at every site. I wish the area would be sprayed for mosquitoes.

We stayed for the first time at Thomson Causeway COE. The website was not in my opinion very accurate with a few things. First of all they make everything look spread out and it is just the opposite. The sites are very close. Also we spent time filling out fresh water tank at the dump/fill station only to find water hookup at our site 123. It also turned out this was a buddy site which was not disclosed during the booking process. This made for extremely tight sites and no real place to hang outside if we wanted too. Our site was right on the water but the views were completely blocked by trees with a lot of under growth. It would be great if the undergrowth was removed. The bugs were horrible. Mayflies and mosquitos would carry you away as soon as you opened the rv door. Needless to say we stayed inside all weekend.
The camp was clean and quiet and the dump station was also clean, but there really is nothing to do around the area, so if you cant sit outside and enjoy the view of the Mississippi then there really is nothing else to do.
We will not be going back. I hope all COE campgrounds are not like this. We camped at Thomson Causeway in a Travel Trailer.

Overnight stay only, site was clean and level, electric only. Water at entrance in dump station area, several spigots throughout loop. Restrooms with showers within walking distance. Vault toilet in the vicinity. Pleasant and helpful volunteer at the entrance. For our preferences, wont come back but is a good place. Jun, 23.
