What Guests Are Saying
Thomson Causeway is praised for its beautiful riverside camping, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite among visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious concrete pads, proximity to nature, and stunning sunsets over the Mississippi River. While some concerns were raised about noise from barking dogs and a less-than-friendly host, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning to return.

Great location, especially to view the beautiful sunsets. You now have water hookup at your site too! Our favorite place to camp!

This is a very pleasant campground. The showerhouse was clean. Close to Palisades State Park, Galena, Fulton, and Clinton.

July is not a real good time to camp at Thomson Causeway. The flys were very bad and the shad flys were still out. We camp there in July to protect our dog from the loud fireworks. You hear some in the distant but not many.

Our first time there. Great place! The only thing is that my camper is tall enough that your trees were scraping the sides and top on my way to site 59. We’re coming back in September!

Excellent campground. Great view of the Mississippi. Clean, well kept, with courteous staff. Lots of things to see and do in the area. Don't miss tour of lock and dam 13. Also nearby Fulton has windmill and other attractions. Across the river at Clinton are many more things to see and do. It was a great trip with the grandkids.

I understand the water is still higher than before but the grass on the sights 114 and 118 is so tall. It hides the rocks of the shore, makes the sight much smaller (almost tight) and breeds flies and mosquitos. We were constantly spraying the air and ourselves with bug spray and still came home with 20-30 bites each. Was terrible. We all agreed that the tall grass didn't help. It blocks the views when sitting watching the sunset. We stayed at 114 a few weeks ago and thought the same and last week stayed in 118. Both need the tall grasses cut back. We camped here in 2020 & 2021 and loved it. Last year we couldn't due to some family health problems, so I was so looking forward to coming back in 2023. Booked 3 trips. We are currently here on trip 3 but I'm not sure it's my favorite anymore. Sorry, but it is so well maintained except for the river edge. REALLY needs some care on river edge. I wish the water was lower to use the little sand beach, but that's probably out of your control so that I can overlook. Thank you

Water at every site is a great upgrade. Great campground, love that we can ride bikes “uptown”, yet seems we’re remote.
