We had a lovely spot on the lake. Staff was helpful and friendly. Well maintained. Feels rural but has easy access from I57. Lots of bike riding area.

The fire pit needs to be moved to the back of the campsite. It's too close to the road.

Have always loved the Rend Lake campgrounds especially South Marcum and Gun Creek. Our stay at Gun Creek was good. We had full hook-ups. Even though the driveway was a bit off level we could manage. The ground on the camp side of the RV was very steep. Even with my extra RV step and extension, the step down was shaky at best. A level concrete patio pad would make this site a great one. We were at Gun Creek Eagle site 61. We would definitely go back, but will avoid this site as my wife not so sure footed.

My camp site was very well organized and maintained. My only issue was the slope of the RV space was too steep for me to completely level my 30 ft travel trailer.
I also had the opportunity to use the day use facility (site 10). My family uses it each year for a gathering and cookout. The issue here is the grill on site is burned out and allows coals to drop from the grill to the ground. This is a hazard for those using the site.

Perfect campground for a traveling overnight as it's not too far from the interstate. I was one night in site 87. It was great for me as it’s perfectly level and easy to back into.

Level lot and way access - even for a 33 ft camper. They need to have a few more parking spaces for visitors but other than that - we had an enjoyable weekend!
