We love Gun Creek and the Rend Lake area. We have spent a week there and went back the following fall for 4 days. Great campground! Will return many times.

Overall very happy, however it is very obvious that funding cuts have affected the park. Walking path between the loop has deteriorated badly and needs repair. My Granddaughter fell and scratched her knee. The mowing service is not doing their job in my opinion, the campsites need to be cleaned up. All that being said it remains a peaceful and nice park to camp.

The man and lady were wonderful. I don't think they should be allowed to park the boats in the small parking lots. I thought the large one as you come in was for boats. Now that we aren't allowed to park on grass and have someone come to visit you have to drive pick them up and take them back to there car.

Exceptionally beautiful clean campground!
Water hookup had a bit of rust so flush first!

Very nice campground with lakeview sites. Be aware that some lake view sites are not level! We used every block and chock that we had to level our small trailer and the front was nearly flush to the concrete. Restroom and shower house was dated but reasonably clean. Lots of wildlife - wild turkeys made a daily circuit past our trailer. We stayed in the electric only loop which was wide open in September. The full hookup loop was pretty much full. We camped at Gun Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

From I-57 take exit 77 and turn west on Route 154. Turn left onto Gun Creek Trail/Larry Foster Parkway, then right onto Golf Course Road. Continue 1/2 mile to park entrance.
Gun Creek Campground is accessible from I-57 via exit 77, approximately 1 mile away. Illinois Route 154 runs directly in front of the campground, providing further access.
