Nice and simple little park. BEWARE OF TINY CULDESACS! dragged a camper bumper in one of the pull through spots. Big dip going in and built (as an afterthought?) in a hill. Cludesacs to turn around are also extremely small and have no shoulders. I pulled a 42 ft 5th wheel. It was touch and go.

The campground is well maintained, quiet, prompt with reservations.
We enjoy the area and the campers who frequent Gun Creek.

This campground is spacious but the facilities aren’t maintained all that well. Also it is infested with ticks. I get it being outside means there will be ticks but I was pulling several off of me each day here and that was on days I never left my site. I would be willing to go back if they could spray for ticks some. It was pretty bad. Also the chiggers are horrible here as well. Not as serious since they don’t carry diseases

Site 32 was beautiful with views of the lake through the trees. The slope is substantial and was an issue even in a 19 ft trailer.

Nice level spot with trees for shade. Beautiful sunsets. They had a dumpster as well as water. Some sites had full hookups. Loved that the others had electricity.
Bathrooms/showers need to be cleaned! There was no water access from the campground.

The park is very nice and was quiet. Check in and out was a breeze. Site 30 is a little off level, but leveling the camper was manageable. Has a nice view of the water, mostly grass, and is a spacious site. The concreate pad has quite a large step off into the grass and a big rock at the corner of the concrete and asphalt that could be a trip hazard. Bug spray is a MUST as biting flies and gnats are abundant and very annoying! If you plan to bring your dog it would be good to put them on a lead because a skunk traveled through our campsite twice. I think they live nearby.

Our site (#23 Nighthawk Loop) was great. It was roomy and level, with a great view.

From I-57 take exit 77 and turn west on Route 154. Turn left onto Gun Creek Trail/Larry Foster Parkway, then right onto Golf Course Road. Continue 1/2 mile to park entrance.
Gun Creek Campground is accessible from I-57 via exit 77, approximately 1 mile away. Illinois Route 154 runs directly in front of the campground, providing further access.
