Gun Creek is one of our favorite campgrounds. We camp there for two weeks at a time to go fishing. Catfishing in June and then crappie fishing in November. Gate people are very friendly. Nice big sites. Though some sites are very hard to level off on.

We have enjoyed camping at gun creek for many years. The host’s are very polite. This time the park seem like there was a little more trash laying around on the ground. Obviously the site that we were in had a large dog the week before. Feces just littered the ground. We hope one day pet owners will respect the rules of the park.

The lots were alright but the bathrooms are terrible. There are NO ventilation so you could breathe as the temperature was so hot. The bathrooms are all full of bugs and gross. Please take an example of Boulder at Carlyle and correct this.

Gun Creek is very conveniently located immediately off I-57. It is a nicely wooded area on the east bank of the lake. Beautiful westward views across the expanse of the lake with frequent lake breeze. Sites immediately along the lakefront are most attractive to us for these reasons. A special draw for us is the bike trail that starts at Gun Creek and extends several miles southward through fields and wooded areas. Further away there is another bike trail along the west side of the lake that is equally nice. For those who like to golf, Gun Creek is adjacent to the golf course. On top of all this is the price. Only $16/nt at the time of this writing. We have gone to all other Rend Lake campgrounds and Gun Creek is our favorite.

We really liked this park. The lady at the service gate was very nice and helpful. There are several big rig friendly sites. We choose to back out instead of going around the tiny circle at the end of the street. But everything is so big and spacious (accept the circles) it was easy. Wonderful big double dump station. Beautiful lake and well maintained park.

Site 21 isn’t for elderly people. Luckily we had the resources with us to build a step. Otherwise you’d roll down the slope exiting the camper. And you wouldn’t be able to enter the camper without the extra step. Full hookups were awesome.
