We have stayed here a couple times and it was very nice both times. It was during the week during the quieter season so was not terribly crowded. Our site during both visits were level and the lady that checked us in was very pleasant. The bathrooms could use some work, otherwise would have given it 5 stars.

It’s my opinion that this campground is the best CORE OF ENGINEER campground and a model for any new campgrounds!
It’s is clean easy in & out, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This park also has concrete sites with FULL HOOKUPS!
Great Job to who ever designed it.
The only 1 thing is I wish they would replace or repair the old Bridge inside the park trail.

We had a beautiful site, everything worked, the front gate people were helpful, and the lake is gorgeous.

We were only able to stay long enough to get some sleep before we had to head out. Didn’t even unhook from the truck. We wish we had been able to stay for several days because this place was immaculate! The fishing report (s) got my husband thinking about spending a week or so down here! Seriously though, the fire pits were the cleanest pits we have ever seen. Rend Lake seems to be a hidden gem and look forward to returning

From I-57 take exit 77 and turn west on Route 154. Turn left onto Gun Creek Trail/Larry Foster Parkway, then right onto Golf Course Road. Continue 1/2 mile to park entrance.
Gun Creek Campground is accessible from I-57 via exit 77, approximately 1 mile away. Illinois Route 154 runs directly in front of the campground, providing further access.
