Gun Creek is always a great time. We've been camping there for over 40 years. Rend Lake is one of out favorites.

The grounds are always cut and the staff is very friendly. Beautiful scenery and large spacious campsites.

Clean campground and bathrooms, well maintained. Easy reservation and check in. Wish the site description informed that turnaround is very tight (asphalt had gouges where several rigs had gone off pavement), and especially that site is very sloped lengthwise from road. We were on"Cardinal" loop. All waterside sites are very sloped.

The lake was beautiful with multiple bike paths around the lake and numerous spots to put in our kayaks. We enjoyed our visit very much with the exception of the shower house/restroom facilities which were outdated, incredibly hot, and often so bug-filled including spiders that it was difficult to use the facilities with any confidence you wouldn't be bit before you escaped. I was very grateful we had a full hook-up and did not have to rely on the facilities for the most part.

The lake views at Gun Creek are beautiful. We enjoy riding our bikes on the bike trails around the lake and going to the ice cream stand in Sesser for a treat.

From I-57 take exit 77 and turn west on Route 154. Turn left onto Gun Creek Trail/Larry Foster Parkway, then right onto Golf Course Road. Continue 1/2 mile to park entrance.
Gun Creek Campground is accessible from I-57 via exit 77, approximately 1 mile away. Illinois Route 154 runs directly in front of the campground, providing further access.
