What Guests Are Saying
Thorntree Lake Campground has received mixed reviews, with some positive feedback highlighting its family-friendly environment and scenic beauty. However, numerous complaints focus on the owner's handling of deposits and contracts, with several guests feeling misled and frustrated by nonrefundable fees and poor customer service. While the location is appreciated, there are concerns about the aesthetic appeal and management practices that could benefit from improvement.

Overall, the Campground owner rips people off. As a Traveling worker I despise places/owners like this. I gave the owners of this Campground, a $200 deposit with the intent of Renting a site for a month from them. I was supposed to move onto site in approximately a week and a half and had to cancel as I found another campground that was closer to my job site. They had my deposit approximately two days to which they were supposedly receiving a huge amount of phone calls regarding the site(which is rented until the 4th) Turning people down left and right. When I asked for my deposit bank, they wanted to tell me it was nonrefundable because they are losing out on money by me canceling. I would be more understanding if they had the site open but the owner said it was booked all the way until I was going to move onto site. I was never told my deposit was not refundable . As a traveler, I warn other monthly campers about this place as the Owners will rip you off no problem.

I wish I could give zero stars or negative but I won’t let me I originally went to this campground because on the website it said works with construction workers call the guy told him that my company pays for my stay everywhere. I go. I’m pretty sure everybody gets paid on Friday, right so I spend my own money to pay rent when my company does charge me late fee every month the dues, money, hungry very rude. I wish nothing but the worst for that campground for him didn’t even get to meet. The guy had to deal with the campground manager or whatever you wanna call him.

We tried to purchase a camper from this individual , i signed a contract. I put the money down. We were told with the down deposit we will be given a chance to sell our camper outright and had agreed to do two different prices, one for the trade-in and one for an outright sale. The timing we agreed to was 6 weeks to complete the sale or trade in our 5th wheel camper. Yes, the refund of our down payment was verbal. As it turns out, our camper didn’t sell, and due to personal reasons, we did not buy the camper after four weeks. The owner was rude, harassing and would not even offer a partial refund of our down payment. We did not read other reviews of this business prior to the deal as it seems to be a regular occurrence with down payments or rental agreements. We trusted them, don’t make the same mistake we did. We are out $4500 so buyers/renters be aware

I'm unsure of the bad reviews of the owner himself . As far as the campers it's up to the buyer because they are free to see it and look it over prior to buying. This has been a beautiful family friendly location for quite some time however. If there are any suggestions from me the layout and set up of campers for sale trashes the scenic beauty people have come to know and love. Unfortunately it looks like it could be a used parts lot in the front. And it looks terrible where they moved the dumpster and they never should have cut down the trees.
