This campground is a hidden gem. It's wonderfully peaceful and yet has activities on the weekends such as concerts. The grounds are extremely well kept and the views are pleasant. Everyone is so friendly!!!!

This was my family and I’s first tenting experience. We chose Riverview Ridge because we were intrigued by the description, and were impressed with the campground. We had to reserve all weekend, as it was a holiday weekend, but couldn’t make it until Saturday evening. We called the office in advance to let them know, and they were more than happy to accommodate our schedule. Upon arrival, we promptly got checked in, and saw that the time had passed to get our firewood order in, which we weren’t aware of, however they were more than happy to take our order and even had it delivered to our site before we got there.

The specific tent sites are somewhat difficult to locate, as only the first one is labeled. We were able to find our site by the pile of wood that was delivered. There were bathrooms nearby, that suited us just fine, however we weren’t sure on the shower situation, as nothing was stated at check in, the website, or the handout we were given, so we went into town to shower at a truck stop. On our way back, we noticed some restrooms below the office, and assumed that was the shower house. The only other suggestion I have is, while we had an amazing riverside tent site, we couldn’t enjoy the view of the river, as there was a bunch of brush in the way. It wouldve been awesome to view the river while we sat around the campfire drinking our morning coffee.

There are some fun and easy trails we took that led us to the beach on the river. I was so impressed with the river and beach area, I was bummed I didn’t bring my suit! If you don’t want to hike to the beach, you can actually drive your vehicle and park there as well!

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay here and have talked about making the three hour trip to come back next year! If I could give a 4.5 I totally would! Making a few minor adjustments would’ve been a 5 star from us!

This is indeed a lovely RV resort nestled along a tree lined river. We had a lovely time there but have a few suggestions that may help future RVers interested.
They need to update their website. The initial cost of tubing was $15 only to be then charged $20 per person. We showed how the reservation in January reflected the original price and they honored it by lending us a free cooler for river float. We were told to exit the river float when we spotted orange trash cans on the side of the river. Never saw those (they don't exist) and ended up floating an extra hour past exit site. Thankfully nice owner John rescued us.
The wood they deliver is not your run of the mill stack of 5 for $5. It's heavy logs, long lasting but they don't indicated just how much wood you get and the price of their website. It's $20 for 15 huge pieces. We didn't know that and ordered $40 worth of wood for three nights. One bundle would llast for long weekend.
Lastly, we requested a secluded wooden spot. We were not originally given that even though it had been requeested two months earlier. What is not posted on website is that the majority of rv sites along tree line(90%) are seasonal owners. In reality you have like 12 spots that they assign a week prior to your arrival.
If you want primitive spots, they have lovely ones along river.
The town of cascade is clean and cute. Moski bbq is some of the best mac n cheese brisket i've ever had.
In spite of the above issues we had a peaceful time and enjoyed the quiet, serene area.

We do not recommend this campground.
Don't get fooled like we did.
Not the top 5 of Iowa campgrounds, that's a lie. This is unwelcoming and low quality. No hot water in the single shower for women. Standing water on the ground all in the women's restroom. The dump station and water facilities are poor, unpaved and homemade looking. No signage or only handmade/hand written signs. Low quality or no amenities compared to a campground less than 30 miles away that charges less and is on the River!
We came here for work as a vendor for a festival put on by the city of Cascade, and we travel quite a bit for work. Not full time RV living but 70% RV living so we've stayed at camps around and all across the country. We have met all kinds of people and stayed in all types of camps so we have a wide base of experience to draw on for this review.
We were made to feel very unwelcome at check in and the woman was RUDE! She did not want to honor the ten dollars early check in on the website, she wanted to charge a full day. She said I'm charging you a full day and that's just how it is! She was so rude my wife wanted to cancel the reservation and cancel our participation in the city sponsored event.
Sometimes campgrounds are less about the amenities and more about the people or the experience. Well there are no amenities here, the people are rude, and the experience was bad.
I want to tell you Miller Riverview Park in Dubuque blew this place out of the water! Way better experience.
We do not recommend this campground. We don't usually leave bad reviews but this campground warrants it.
Don't be fooled by the website, you won't enjoy your visit here .
