What Guests Are Saying
Tailwater West Campground is highly praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favorite spot for many campers. The campground offers spacious sites, full hookups, and convenient access to fishing and nearby attractions, contributing to enjoyable stays. Some concerns were raised about noise from fellow campers and check-in confusion, but overall, visitors expressed a strong desire to return and appreciated the friendly staff and peaceful atmosphere.

Short stay for us. Sites and campground were well maintained in park-like setting. Only issue was dog next to us barked all night.

Great campground, well kept, level concrete site with FHU, only problem was figuring out how to check in. Turns out we shouldn't have worried as a host on a golf cart just checked us off his list (wish he would have told us). Lots of people fishing, we love to camp at COE campgrounds and this one did NOT disappoint

Loved the smallness of the campground with the sound of water rushing through the dam and a fishing pier right outside our door! The only bother was the camper next to us. There were bright blue camper lights up and down the sides that shown right through our bedroom windows, even with both shade pulled down. They lit up the whole bedroom! We had to tape tinfoil over them to get any sleep. I think RVs with these kind of lights should be required to turn them off after 10 pm because the visual βnoise.β Thank you.

The campground has an Interesting setting, located underneath a dam. No actual water views, but judging from all the people fishing in the area, the fishing must be good. Our site was a pull-thru with full hook-ups. The sewer hook-up was not great. It stuck above the ground and there were not fittings on the pipe. We thought maybe it was just our site, but no, none of the sites had fittings either. We thought this was weird and very inconvenient.

Can be a challenge to check in if youβre not familiar with this locationβ¦.several campgrounds in the area but only one βranger stationβ for check in. There is a phone number posted to check in as well however. Beautiful camping spot!!! We will be back:-))

Great site at tailwater west. Large level concrete pad, shade from the large cottonwoods and quiet. Will stay here anytime we pass thru Iowa.

Great experience - only wish is that the ice cream shop was not up the hill - but maybe that's a good thing!

Tailwater West is absolutely one of the best campgrounds in the Coralville Reservoir area. Fantastically clean, beautiful views, eagle watching and plenty of shade. I highly recommend camping here!
