The West Overlook needs to continue to work on updating the campground. The roads are too narrow for the new RV motorhomes, 5th wheels and pull-behind trailers. The roads have sinking sides and/or mud aling them if it rains. The campground needs to add more concrete or at least 3 ft of gravel on each side of the roads for safe maneuvering of campers. The water coming out of the spicket on my campsite spewed out brown water. It was disgusting. The weeds and bushes along the shore are so overgrown that there is very little view of the lake from the campsites. The overall campground could use some much needed maintenance to make it more enjoyable and safe for all campers arriving and departing their spots.

Beautiful campground close to downtown Iowa City. Bath house was clean and the water was hot. On the shores of Coralville Lake. Close to shopping and restaurants. Campsites are spaced so you aren’t on top of your neighbor. Lovely campground!

A delightful afternoon/overnight visit here. First so warmly welcomed by the volunteer in the registration booth who filled us in on the area and what we might see in the short time there. Our site was nice, on an end overlooking woods where we saw several deer. We explored the area a bit including the dam and the fossil site, both very cool. Bathrooms were clean and showers nice and hot with good pressure. Wish we could have stayed longer at this lovely, interesting park.

All the campgrounds in this site as well as the other campgrounds encompassing this COE park have some but not enough full hookups, would encourage more full hookup sites. The campgrounds are well maintained. The trails are also well maintained.

The whole Coralville Dam area is a great place to camp and visit. All the sites are nice. The only downside is the T-Mobile connection for our WiFi and phone connection

From Interstate 80 (Iowa City, IA) take Exit 244 towards Dubuque St./North Liberty. Travel north on Dubuque St. for 3 mi and turn right onto West Overlook Rd. NE. Travel on West Overlook Rd. NE for 1.1 mi. At the stop sign take a slight left turn....
From Interstate 80 (Iowa City, IA) take Exit 244 towards Dubuque St./North Liberty. Travel north on Dubuque St. for 3 mi and turn right onto West Overlook Rd. NE. Travel on West Overlook Rd. NE for 1.1 mi. At the stop sign take a slight left turn. The entrance to the West Overlook Campground will be located straight ahead.
From Interstate 380 (North Liberty, IA) take Exit 4 towards North Liberty. Travel east on W. Penn St. for 2 mi and turn right onto N Dubuque St. Travel south on N Dubuque St. for 1.9 mi, at the traffic circle, continue straight onto Dubuque St NE. Continue traveling south on Dubuque St. NE for 1.8 mi. Turn left onto West Overlook Rd. NE and travel east for 1.1 mi. At the stop sign take a slight left turn. The entrance to the West Overlook Campground will be located straight ahead.
