Prairie Flower was great. Easy to find. Several camp loop options. We stayed in Aste site 27. There was clean restrooms and showers a short walk away. A large green space and playground for the kids. There is a bike rec path that you can access right from the campground. We went to a nice farmers market in Ankeny. Unfortunately, the day we were going to ride the High Trestle Trail the skies opened up. Our site (Aste 27) was level and the site was much longer than our 30 ft TT and tow vehicle. It has lovely shade trees and grassy areas. A note of caution. In September those shade trees are going to throw large black walnuts and acorns onto your roof.

The camping pad areas are concrete and clean. Shower buildings are tops compared to most.
And the custodians are friendly and courteous.
Some of the places have great views of the lake for that sunset and sunrise. Beach is very close.
I say it’s the best in the state!

We had a family gathering with children at Blazingstar 32. Level site, large concrete pad, excellent playground near the site. The level site was critical as our leveling system went out when we arrived and being level was necessary for the use of our fridge. We were originally in Aster and making the change through Recreation.gov was amazingly easy. B 32 was right across from the entrance and near the parking lot, so perfect for our gathering! I always enjoy our stays at Saylorville Reservoir, we travel in a 38" DP.

Showers great, warm clean and well stocked. Grounds very clean. Enjoy the space between campers. Enjoyed space riding bike around entire campgrounds and down to lake.

Getting There
From I-35, take exit 90 to Ankeny/Oralabor Road and go west for 4.8 mi. The road turns into Highway 415, continue and follow signs to the campground.
Highway access
Prairie Flower Recreation Area is accessible via Iowa State Highway 415, which is approximately 5 miles to the east. Interstate 80 is about 20 miles to the north.
