Would be nice to have extra hooks in the showers!

Shady Creek is a well-maintained campground along the Mississippi River, offering spacious, level concrete sites and a peaceful atmosphere for relaxation. Many visitors appreciate the friendly staff, clean facilities, and scenic views, as well as the proximity to local attractions like Wildcat Den State Park. While some noted issues with bathroom maintenance and nearby train noise, the overall experience is positive, making it a favored spot for short getaways.

We were fortunate to get a "front row spot" facing the river on site 34; only problem was that BRIGHT Yard Light by the RR Building that basically destroys any chance of genuine campfire ambience for Both sites 33 and 34. The Corps of Engineers really needs to come up with a solution to Correct THAT situation. We were pleased to be able to gather some downed limbs and twigs for several pleasant (in spite of the yard light) campfires most every night and one of the cooler mornings as well. We appreciated the sound deadening effect of the "North Woods" making the passing trains much MUCH less of a distraction (than Clark's Ferry, for example). The host was very Kind and HELPFUL in answering any questions that we had.

The site is one of the best places we found to camp next to the Mississippi. The check in process was very efficient and physically distant compared to other Army Corps of Engineers camping sites. This is nice particularly important during a pandemic. If you use the bathroom, you may want to bring your own toilet paper since the toilet paper provided is pretty sheer. Also, bring paper towels to dry your hands and hand sanitizer to use when exiting to reduce the risk of Covid exposure.
