Enjoyed a week at Rathbun Lake's Island View Campground. It had been 3 years since our last family reunion campout at Rathbun. There have been noticeable upgrades and work done at the campground. The camp host were friendly and worked to keep the campground safe as we had several youth riding electric bikes way to fast around the campground. The campground was well groomed and clean. The spacing between camp sites is better than a lot of campground and there was plenty of open space and playground equipment. Enjoyed ice cream at the Captain's Landing and the food at The Tipsy Turtle Bar & Grill was amazing. Especially the Bacon Jalapeno Wantons and the Crab Rangoon & Pita Chips appetizers. We will camp there again.

Camper attendants were very courteous and helpful. Only complaint I
have is the ebike/electric motor cycle riding through camp sites. Some of the dead trees need addressed. It's a safety hazard.

Nice place with easy, mostly level camping sites and nice scenery. My only complaint was the maintenance person chose to use the pressure washer in the camp toilet next to our site at 5 am, which was a bit ridiculous (or a LOT).

General

  • 14 Day Policy on Rathbun Lake: Campers are only allowed to camp at the same camping loop a maximum of 14 nights within a 30 night period. After the 14th night, they will be required to move (physically move the camping unit) to a different camping loop, which can be in the same campground.
  • Swimming beach is approximately 1 mile from the campground
  • Please register/ pay for campsite prior to set up. Park Attendant will check you in on your campsite during their morning or evening rounds.
  • If late, you must contact this park within 24 hours after your original check-in time or you will be considered a 'no show' resulting in the cancelation of your reservation.

  • Purchase firewood from a local source.
  • If you must bring your own firewood, don't leave any firewood behind at your campsite.
