We were at camp site #46 at Howells Station: it was level, clean from trash and near the shower house.
Pros: Reasonably priced, beautiful area, large camp site, lots of activities, close to several cute towns, clean shower house, very kind fellow campers (even with pets) and helpful, kind staff at the front gate.
Cons: No direct water or sewer connections, camp site was nicely graveled & clean but had ALOT of big overgrown weeds and absolutely NO INTERNET SERVICE! This is a HUGE (one of the biggest in Iowa) state park and there is not a tower in site!
Must see: Pella, IA (beautiful, quaint Dutch town), Knoxville, IA (Dirt Racing Capital of Iowa!) and Newton, IA (great restaurants and shops)!

A very nice and clean campground. There is good spacing between the campers. There is play ground equipment for the kids. There are trails throughout the area. It is not far from the towns of Pella and Knoxville. Pella has a tulip festival in the spring. Knoxville has dirt track racing during the summer. There is national racing held in Knoxville in August. We saw lots of deer at dusk around the campground. There is a river close for fishing. There is a big lake, Red Rock for boating and sailing.

Great Spot right across from the shower house. Very clean shower house. Biggest complaint is campground is very difficult to get a full week on one location due to all the weekend rentals scheduled.
