We stayed at SugarBottom COE this week ( Solon IA). It is the nicest one we have stayed at! The guy at the check in office was super welcoming and shared info and a booklet for the area and trails. It’s a big park but has been pretty empty during the week-it is booked Friday thru Sunday or we would extend our stay. The bathroom/showers are old but clean every time I went in. It is a very well kept park-kudos to the staff!

Campground check in is a mess. No tags on the posts to see when somebody is arriving or leaving. They don't seem to enforce the rules, there's dogs off leash running around and people parking and driving on the grass. Also saw an electric jeep on different empty sites just plugging in and using electricity. There was also a camper with extremely super bright cap lights on at night. Threw bright light on multiple sites.

We always love camping at Sugar Bottom! Beautiful campground with plenty to do right there but so much more in the nearby towns. Love the multiple playgrounds, beach, and bike trails. They also have great ranger programming!

Had an issue with loud disrespectful and verbally abusive site neighbors. The five accompanying children were toddlers in diapers to a nine year boy who also was verbally abusive to the toddlers. The campground was mostly empty and all we were requesting was to move to an other site. This was our last night at this campground. Our respectful request was answered with aggression and window slammed in our face. We were then yelled at through the window and were told to “get another site”. We feel that the campground host at the entrance gate did not properly handle the situation and could use some schooling on how to handle delicate situations. Thanks for listening, we love the Corp of Engineers.

We’ve been going to Sugar Bottom for years. We’ve been increasing disappointed in the beach area.
The geese have taken over and there is zero cleanup being done. The beach isn’t raked and makes me not want to go back
