Always a good time at Sugarbottom. So many activities to choose from- frisbee golf, mountain biking, swimming, fishing. It was clean and quiet. Only reason for 4 stars- no water or sewer hook ups so you have to use the bath houses to shower. There is no temperature control on the showers and the water was HOT! Not what you want on sunburned skin after a day on the beach.

Campsite 70 itself was very neat. The only concern was the electrical hook up had been push over and looked like the lower section had been broken. We reported it and it was fixed within the next day. The only thing that was unexpected was the loss of one bathroom shower house completely which then made other campers use the one nearest us a bit more so there was a little bit of wait time when wanting to use the restroom or shower. I also was surprised with being down one complete bathroom/shower house that the restrooms didn’t seem to be kept up very well.

Unfortunately we did not know the beach was closed before reserving and arriving, there were no notices anywhere besides on the beach. We decided to do a walk in site and that was a lesson learned on our part - it’s a lot farther of a walk than it looks like on the map and with all our stuff, it wasn’t worth it. Finding spots to access the lake in other areas was the highlight of the trip. We unfortunately had neighbors come in the second night after 10pm and light up our site with their headlights and set up camp while they yelled and continued drinking as we were trying to relax after a long day by the fire. Was not ideal that it wasn’t very regulated by the campground hosts.

We tried to use site 45, but there was such an angle that we could not level our trailer. Fortunately we were able to switch sites. Also note, there is currently no bathroom for sites 1-53, it's being rebuilt.

Sugar Bottom was a fabulous stay. I was there for 9 days with my German Shepherd puppy. We walked the bike trails every day and it was wonderful. The place was immaculate and showers were great. A special shout out to camp host Tanya who brought toys for my dog and filled her little swimming pool up for him. So sweet. Thanks for a great stay.
