What Guests Are Saying
The Dam Site offers a beautiful area with great views of the lake. However, visitors should be cautious of low tree branches that could damage trailers. Access can be challenging during local events, as roadblocks and congestion may occur.

My stay was turned a bit scary due to being in a tornado warning and hailstorm. When I went to what appeared to be the camp host, there were lights and tvs on and a truck parked outside, but no one answered when I knocked to find out what to do. However, the sites and restrooms were clean.
The reason I am giving a higher score was solely due to the COE Maintenance guy, Tim, who took his time to help me with a difficult situation I had with my towed vehicle. He was my angel!

Site was nice, but not very level. It rained a lot and ponded around fire pit and around pick nick table. Got very muddy. Bathroom and shower house was not very clean and out of TP. Had tornado warnings and only had the bathrooms to go to.
The park itself is nice.

Beautiful area, great view of the lake. Just need to look out for low tree branches so they don’t hit the top of the trailer and tear the roof

Local school was having a cross country track meet they had the road blocked off coming in from the east.I backed tracked out to 75 highway and came in from the north side Dam road very congested with parked cars and people walking down the road, got to the turn in for campground and local police tried to stop me from entering the campground. Really a poor choice of a place to hold a cross country track meet.

I came here sight unseen and not knowing the terrain or elevation. The pictures on the web makes it look like the terrain is level. I got to the site I picked from the web only to find out that the incline for my rig was not going to work. I called Recreation.gov to see if I could get another site. They provided another sight for me but for only 3 days not 6. I said I would take it. I went to that site and it was not going to work. I got a call from the Corp. of Engineers office, and they said there is a site on the east side that is level and I could stay there for 3 days. I went over there, and it was much better. I was almost all set up, when the park ranger came over and told me about a site at the Dam Site Park and it would be available for the 6 days that I had originally planned. I went over there, got set up, and the park ranger, Bradley, came over to make sure I was happy and was going to stay. Bradley was the nicest park ranger I have met. I appreciated his concern. I found that the Dam Site Park was just beautiful. I had a great few of the reservoir and it was so peaceful. There was a lot of people fishing. It is great for taking long walks. I rode my bike all around the different parks in the area. I recommend this place. The Recreation.gov and the Corp. of Engineers (Taylor) were so kind and understanding of my needs. God bless them all for being there to help a single woman traveling by herself.

Happy to get a spot for Labor Day weekend! The site was nice, however we were missing a picnic table. After the place cleared out on Monday we noticed a site at the other end had two (rude!!). Still I’d have rated higher if not for the multiple power outages throughout Saturday afternoon & evening. Too bad maintenance wasn’t on call on a busy holiday weekend. A couple of bigger rigs left out of frustration and that seemed to help, but that’s a shame.
