The lake has a lot of largemouth bass, the boat ramps and docks are nice, its gravel to the ramp. Shower house is heated, and i rate good, along with the campgrounds.

We enjoyed our stay here; it's a beautiful campground with a lot of walking & fishing opportunities. The beach was nice. The sunset view from the pier across from the beach was awesome too! Now the bad. There was a cockroach in the men's shower. Also, the women's showers were not up to par so we two ladies chose not to shower. The spots were a bit tight to fit in our 45 foot fifth wheel toy hauler and the roads were a bit narrow - especially when extra cars were parked along the side of the road. Each of the campgrounds here are arranged in a circle. There aren't many trees around that circle, so it basically becomes a circle of RVs with spacious spots for each, but also a clear view of all other spots. So, at least in the Buffalo campground, there is not much privacy. The only other thing is there were a few campers that were obviously there long term that looked like they should be condemned - with busted out windows covered in cardboard, etc. I can appreciate the fact that everyone should be able to access campgrounds with no barriers & that camper is probably somebody's castle. But it was also messy outside around it and lots of loud, run-down vehicles were coming & going - so that felt a little sketchy. One other thing - the walking trails had a lot of grass growing over them, often making it hard to discern whether or not we were still on the path. We always felt safe, though. We would stay here again. But we'd hope that by then the shower conditions would be improved.

We camped here in our RV, had a great experience with location and amenities. The staff and Kurt especially were extra helpful and gracious when we left something behind. The views are wonderful, maintenance is good and the grounds are kept well. It is a well loved piece of Holton history that's come full circle. Holton is a sweet town to explore and the people were amazing.

I've been out to this lake several times. A couple times to kayak and swim. A time or two to just drive around the lake because it's a beautiful place. Everytime I go out, it is even better than the last.
I like going out to take pictures too. Amazing areas for that. The pictures I am posting are from Sunday 9/26/21.
I also read on their website about an Astronomical place they have now with the strongest telescope in KS. (?)
It's open 24 hours so you can see the night sky. I definitely am going to go out and see this.
On Sunday it was kinda windy, however, the weather was perfect. I didn't swim, but just sat over at the beach watching birds, kids playing in the water and boaters enjoying the water.
This lake has a lot to offer. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you're in the right place. Even if you don't live here in KS, you could come out for a vacay. You won't be disappointed.
There's lots to do near by; great restaurants, historical places, and geeat people. Kansas is well known for having the friendliest people on earth. (at least I think so) 😉
Back to lakes, besides Banner, there are several lakes around in KS that are just as beautiful. Clinton Lake in Lawrence, Perry Lake in Perry, Tuttle Creek in Manhattan, just to name a few.
Whatever or whatever you vacation, be sure to check out what Kansas has to offer. It's definitely the spot for many reasons. You won't be disappointed. I grew up here. I will always consider it "home" no matter where I go.
Have a great time exploring your dreams. But be sure you ad Kansas to your 'bucket' list or to your 'wanna go' places.
