About Rockhaven Park Campground and Equestrian Area

Rockhaven Park is located on the south side of Clinton Lake, west of the Dam on the Rock Creek Arm of the lake. Rockhaven Park is the trailhead for the South Shore Trails (equestrian and hiking trails on the south side of the lake) and is the only place where equestrians can camp overnight with their horses and mules.

Campground is clean and well suited for equestrian camping. Extensive and beautiful trail system. Many volunteer hours go into maintaining those trails and it’s very much appreciated. We need this equestrian park!!!

Poor directions for equestrian campground, no one available to ask had to ask gentleman emptying garbage , have to go 8.5 mi for dump station when sewer is available in campground, no staff only volunteers, trail systems maintained only by volunteer missing markers , orange trail completely nonexistent due to wash outs logs etc beautiful campground itself but trails lacking I do want to thank those who volunteer their time no one to answer questions expect from 8-4 M-F and then have to leave a message

We love camping at Rock Haven. The camp sites are nice and they have several options to choose from. There are lots of double sites which is fun when you are camping with family and friends. The sites are very well maintained and have plenty of room. The horse stalls are big, Ours were covered which is much appreciated during the hots months. The only complaint we had with our last trip is that previous campers did not clean out their horse stalls. You can't take the knothead out of some folks. The park has a fun area for kids with a nice covered shelter for grilling and large gatherings. We like riding trails that offer a variety of terrine which these trails have. We appreciate they are well maintained. Thank you to those that keep this park and trails in such good condition. As always, we take out what we take in. We will definitely go back soon.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

  • Campsites are open to everyone, with specific sites offering equestrian accommodations and electrical services.
  • Horse corrals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Site capacity

  • Campsite occupancy is limited to two vehicles, eight people, and two camping units per site.

Vehicles & parking

  • Vehicles must follow state laws; only licensed drivers may operate vehicles, and certain vehicles are prohibited.

Fees & deposits

  • Discount passes are required at check-in and can only be used by the registered camper at one site.

Pets

  • Pets must be leashed and are not allowed in restrooms or shower buildings; owners must clean up after them.
  • Horses cannot be tied to trees but can be secured using hitching rings or tie lines.

Safety & rules

  • Trails may be closed temporarily due to adverse conditions.
  • Camping is limited to 14 days within a 30-day period; campers must change campgrounds after this limit.
  • Quiet hours are enforced, with all visitors required to leave by 10:00 p.m.
  • Maintain a clean campsite and dispose of garbage properly; compost pens are provided for horse manure.
  • Electric fences are prohibited.

  • Commercial activities are not allowed on USACE lands.

  • Fires are allowed only in designated fire rings, and certain firewood sources are restricted.
