We love this campground. There is plenty space between campers. We were hoping that the remodeling had been completed and the sites all concrete. The gravels at the camp sites are a nightmare to keeping the camper clean. This is definitely an upgrade that I would recommend. The gravels are al the only complaint I have.

We stayed at Buckhorn Campground for a week and was disappointed by how inaccurate the Recreation.gov listing is. It advertises swimming and Wi-Fi, neither of which exists. There's also no mention that the dam is under construction or that the closest local amenities are quite far away. The campground feels insecure with no gate or anyone checking passes, and staff is only present a few hours per day. Future campers should know the real situation before booking.

There were a lot of children roaming around after quiet time yelling, screaming, riding bikes and scooters, with no parents around, some appeared to be 2 or 3 years old who try to follow people inside their campers. Some children came on our campsite and destroyed some of my solar lights, ripping leaves and flowers off of them. Dogs not on leashes, just running free and people not cleaning up after their dogs! Next door to us had a camper sitting there and no one at it until the last night we were there, camper has no tag on it, it was in the same spot last year. When individuals showed up to the camper, they had their grey tank just pouring out on the ground, can see a gaping hole where it has poured out for quite a while. There were side by sides and razors riding around and parking at campsites. There were children who threw trash on the ground continuously and refused to pick up. There were children who were in the bathrooms who locked the stall doors and climbed out underneath, so nobody could use the female restrooms. There were multiple campers that were just sitting there and nobody at them, but then people showed up and moved them to another site with new dates on them, but left again. All of which seem to be friends or family of camp host. Don’t get me wrong, she is a nice person, but doesn’t enforce rules at all. Will definitely NOT be returning to this campground. I will be forwarding videos to the Army Corps of Engineers because that 8 night stay we paid for was horrible, we literally got 1 peaceful night sleep out of the whole stay.

We always enjoy our trips to Buckhorn Campground! Our kiddos make new friends each trip and usually have a few old friends. They always have a blast riding bikes, playing basketball, wiggle ball, horseshoes, and volleyball! Let’s not forget to mention all their fishing story’s. The host and her family are always friendly and helpful! The atmosphere in general is just calm and inviting! We don’t use the shower house often because we use our camper shower but the times we have it’s been clean. We look forward to our next trip!

We enjoy a relaxing get away here. Close to home, camp with friends and make new friends. Just an all around get away.
