Unfortunately not the campground for us. Sites were more set up for RV camping not for tent camping as there was no privacy and sites were close together. Site fire pit and grill were not cleaned out. The bathroom/shower house not clean either. The trail that they did have was completely unmaintained and washed out with a severe grade to access trail. Access to the river was good with a few benches and pavilion down by the dam. If we we in a rv and the area was cleaner would have been 4 star review.

We stayed at Buckhorn on a moments notice. We were able to book a site at Recreation.gov. It was very late at night and the gate was left open for us. Very nice laundry facilities.

Stayed at our first COE, Buckhorn Dam Campground in Kentucky. Beautiful campground at the base of the dam. Mostly well kept and clean but our site was not. Cigarette butts, fishing lures (and assuming hooks?) , and trash all over the site. We found a plastic bottle, lures, and a knot of fishing wire in the fire pit.
LOVE the cost and beauty of most of the campground but we are a little disappointed by our experience.
