Campground was very clean and peaceful. Our spot (10) was a little tricky to get into with a tree near the entrance, but was FANTASTIC once we got backed in and set up. Will definitely be back! BEWARE- There is a family of skunks that come out every night at sunset, but they don't act like they are bothered by you at all. We watched them every night. I was nervous with kids, but they never acted on alert or anything. Great experience.

The whole area is so scenic and we love being able to be next to the water. We visited in the Fall and the colors were so beautiful and we enjoyed them immensely.

Great site. We did have an issue with skunks in and around our campsite. This caused several neighboring campers to move locations.

This was my second visit to Canal. Also stayed in 2019, enjoyed it enough I returned.
Whenever I am travelling and can work Canal into a convenient place to stop for the night, I will.

Restrooms were in bad need of cleaning. It wasn’t daily cleaning it was deep cleaning that needed to be done. There was stuff on the walls that had been there for weeks. Sites needed gravel. The whole campground was overrun with skunks. It’s not a pleasant camping experience when you have to always be on alert for skunks to make sure you or your pet doesn’t get sprayed.

We book site 93 because we need a handicap site and we find it discouraging that over the past 4 years the condition of the site continues to worsen. It’s in desperate need of leveling, there are many deep ruts in the gravel making it dangerous to walk for fear of falling as well as difficult to park our trailer. Please re-grade this handicap site. Another observation is the bathrooms are no longer cleaned thoroughly, we were there 2 weeks and in that time there was the same debris on the floor in the Mens bathroom the entire time, the guys that clean are in and out of the 2 bathrooms in less than 15 minutes.

We stayed in #13 in a travel trailer and it was the most unlevel site we have ever been in. And the worst part was worrying the whole stay if we would be able to get out of this site without going into a ditch. However outside of this, our stay was very nice. Bathroom was convenient and clean. Nice large pads for table and screenhouse. Park was very well maintained. We will definately return to Canal but not stay in the primitive section again.

This is the perfect campground if your looking to get away from kids and camp with like minded, senior individuals. We have camped at many but Canal is the golden retirement campground in Western KY. With it being smaller it's easier to walk our dogs and go visit neighbors, and just a short drive to Grand Rivers for ice cream or supplies. The bathrooms are really clean and large with the Point being our favorite and Beach Loop being our sencond choice. The camp attendant's are super nice and helpful with getting checked in and out. Located on the Northern end of the Trace/LBL and a short drive to I-24. Canal Campground is the senior destination campground of West KY!
