Moutardier

The site was very nice - this was our third time to enjoy it. It is directly across from the boat ramp. The level part of the site is very short but our 19 ft trailer fit fine. There was some confusion with the next occupant of the site. They showed up 90 minutes before check in time and complained to the camp host who then complained to us when we left. Tip: don't show up early!

Spent two weeks in late June. D-Loop spacing was extremely tight, with campers very close together. Unlike most USACE campgrounds we visit, the sites were short and narrow. Additionally, the sites were bordered with large rip rap, making it a challenge to walk on the slide side of our camper to access the storage compartment and hook up water and electricity. Although there were rules for golf cart use, they were not enforced as teens would joy ride through the entire campground. Overall, not the best camping experience, but as full time travelers, we’ve learned to take the bad with the good.

We took our camper and boat there on Tuesday and the water was way too close for our grandkids to be safe so we didn’t get to stay😞 we asked for a refund but never heard back. Bad customer service!

Beautiful, well-maintained site (A-029). We loved sitting outside our camper with an envious lake view. Checking in and out was simple. We’re looking forward to our next visit.

We went to bowling green to the corvette museum. very interesting, also took a hike in Mammoth cave park. Very nice stay

Check In:
Drive to your reserved site. Your name ad care tag will be hanging on the post at your site. There are camphosts throughout the campground should you need assistance.
We stayed a week in site B8, level concrete handicap site. Right next to bath house which was very clean during our stay.
To do:
Most ppl we met were locals staying at the cg and most are there to fish and boat. It was our first time there and we used it as a base camp to visit Mammoth Cave NP.
Site information: Big Rig friendly but not all sites are shaded or level or easy to get in to so know before you go by checking campsite photos wherever you can find them or due diligence to find out about your site number. Very few are shoreline accessible to park your boat at your site or launch your kayak for a paddle. There is a nice boat launch not too far from the campground as well as a resort marina and food next door to Mountardier's boat launch.
The weekends are busy with boaters (loud rap music w/ profanity lyrics & they feel obliged to BLAST it across the lake) and jet skis and most campsites in the summer are totally reserved. During the week Sun-Thurs, the lake and cg is quiet and it was our fav time to be there.
The campground is located pretty remotely. There is a little store a few miles away with bait/tackle/gas and supposedly pretty good deli and food items but we didn't try them so I can't personally recommend but passing it on for your information.
Our T-Mobile cell and internet tower worked great at our campsite. We did notice there was zero cell service as we drove past the guard shack to the right and rounded the first loop which is on the lower bottom of the campground. The sites are tiered by loop so the higher your loop is the better cell coverage you will have with TMobile.
We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area. There is a nightly train heard in the distance. It didn't bother us and we got a peaceful nights sleep.

It was very pretty there and the volunteers were nice.
