Mammoth Cave Campground

The camp ground at mammoth cave was great there are shuttle buses to take you to the cave and there are other cave systems around and bowling green is a half hour drive south to other places to visit there is also plenty of places to choose from to eat if your not eating at the camp site

While there’s nothing particularly special or unusual about the campground, it has always been quiet and well kept.

We love how clean everything was the staff was helpful and great the showers where clean and nice hot water

Camp ground was nice and clean and the elevated drive ways saved our butts with all the flooding that took place. All I'd ask is that you give the staff more hours to do what they need and to have the gate manned 24/7

The staff is great here. From the woman who checked us in(friendly, knowledgeable and fast) to the guy working the gift shop (efficient, personable and funny). Really they're the only reason our time at this park was better than ok. You pay more to camp here, but all of the "amenities" are old and in much need to repair and/or updating. For example: you pay $39/night to camp but then you have to pay $1.50 for four minutes of shower time! The showers are absolutely disgusting. They have broken tile floors and rusty old coin boxes.

Very good facilities maintenance. Spaces were well organized in the campground. Shady and clean.

This is a nice place and it definitely has some potential - the campground is close to the visitors center, the lodge, and a small store with basic amenities. All are safely and easily walkable. Sites are nicely spaced and leveled. There is potable water and bathroom facilities. We were travelling for a week and during our trip we stayed here along with 4 other national park campgrounds in the southeast region. I think Mammoth Cave could benefit from a central building facility with warm showers and some dishwashing stations. There is a pay shower at the store but it closes at 6, requires quarters, etc. there is inevitably a line up. Similarly, manually harvesting your dishwashing gray water when tenting is a very difficult task. This is exceptionally challenging given the aggressive squirrel population that will be on your picnic table eating food if you leave for 2 min. (that is not parks fault but it does make dishwashing and eating extra difficult). Most comparable parks have one large building with several hot showers and a few dish washing stations, or dishwashing stations attached to bathrooms scattered about the campsites,. That would be a tremendously positive addition. Given the extensive outdoor recreation opportunities in the park - hiking, spellunking, biking, - I could imagine staying there for an extended stay however the lack of these basic amenities would reduce that likelihood

We had a great time and the campground was nice

Gorgeous sites that are separated by trees so it doesn’t feel like you’re camping on top of other people. Many people were also in tents, which makes it a quieter campground. Clean bathrooms. Showers worked. They’re coin operated, so nothing luxurious. It was my 3rd time at this campground over the years. I’m quite sure we’ll be back again.
