What Guests Are Saying
Maple Springs Campground offers a peaceful, spacious, and secluded experience with great hiking trails nearby. The campground is clean and well-maintained, but lacks showers and dump stations, which may be inconvenient for some visitors. While access to the main park area via ferry can be limited, the overall tranquility and beauty of the site make it a worthwhile destination for nature lovers.

We loved our stay at Maple Springs Campgrounds. I loved that it was quiet and felt a little more 'away from it all.' Be aware that getting back and forth into the main park area requires a ferry ride and the hours of operation were not as long as I would have preferred. There are no showers or dump stations on that side, so plan ahead.
There are great trails off of the campground or just across the ferry. If you tour the caves, purchase tickets well in advance as we found that several of them sold out quickly.

Great site, quiet. parking Trailer can be odd depending on site. Our site had one-way entrance and harsh angle on trailer pad. once in, it was great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maple Springs campground. We had it to ourselves due to the fact that the ferry wasn’t working the first day we were there. The only complaint I have is that nowhere in the reservation process was it stated that there weren’t showers of any form. That was an unpleasant surprise.

Ferry was not working and travel to park was over 1.5 hrs. A bridge should be built. Also Park being closed due to shut down was
Detrimental. I don’t understand why there are not RV hookups in the park.

It was a nice place to stay in the park. Big spaces and electricity. But the public restrooms were a bit drafty due to it being a giant hole in the ground lol.

The campground was COMPLETELY ABANDONED! There wasn’t a soul there and it is off the beaten path due to storm damage of the bridge connecting it to the main Mammoth Cave national park facilities. So I think it was abandoned due to that issue. I wish we would’ve known that and made other arrangements because we’d paid for 3 nights but left in the morning after one night. We did not feel comfortable leaving our trailer there while we visited the park.

Group Site 6. Flat, level, easy setup. What should be a 10 minute drive to MCNP is now an hour long detour around a washed-out river crossing.

Great site but the ferry being closed makes for quite a drive to the caves.

They don't explicitly mention this so one makes assumptions. Fact is all RV campers need to know that there is no dump station at all at the campground. The only dump station in the park is at the Mammoth Cave campground near the visitor center (nearly an hour's drive). Also there's a ferry to get to the NPS visitor center under normal conditions (of course not with an RV) but this was flooded out during our planned stay, and we were not aware prior to arrival.
