Mammoth Cave Campground

We love this campground. It is pretty, peaceful, and quiet. We have camped here 3 times now. We believe it could use a few more bathrooms in each loop. When the campground is full like it was on the Friday we were camped this trip, then the bathrooms get a lot of use and get crowded. The shower situation is awkward, the second you drop the last quarter the water starts running and the clock is ticking. If the time runs out you have to pay full price again instead of just adding a few more minutes, reminds me of a car wash. We did a lot of hiking this trip, planned to cross on the ferry and do the north loop trail. The ferry was closed so it was a 40 minute drive to the trail head, but worth the drive - beautiful, peaceful trail. If you take a walk at night up near the visitor center there is a lovely open place to look at stars. This was just a camping trip for us this time, we didn't visit the cave this trip. Just being in the park, hiking the trails, and camping are worth a trip to Mammoth Cave National Park!

Campground is well suited for smaller campers as ours is and was clean. The cave tour was amazing and the trails are well maintained. We went on the self guided tour which allowed us to go at our own pace and the ranger was a wealth of information.

The camp host were very good at giving directions and helping out if needed at the Mammoth Cave Campground. I did not realize that it was heavy pollen season when I was camping and had to go to Walmart in a town 20 min away to get medication for pollen allergies that I normally do not have, so be aware this time of year is heavy pollen flying around like ashes from a campfire. Other than that my experience was perfect!! The camp Rangers were highly interactive and seemed eager and excited to answer questions about the Mammoth Caves. I can't wait to be able to make another trip here and explore more. I only did the self discovery cave tour because of timing for me, I am hoping to return to do other tours. The campground was clean, quiet and very relaxing.

The Mammoth Cave campground had easy accessibility to the visitor center, lodge and restaurant. It had a nice onsite camp store with showers and laundry. The staff at the campground check-in were highly knowledgeable, helpful and engaging. The ranger led evening walk was informative and fun.

Very very beautiful National Park. Lovely hiking trails. Great visitors center -easy to get a ticket to self guided 30ish min tour. Loved seeing and understanding how the dry cave was formed. Nice quiet campsite. Very clean. Nice bathrooms . Nice lighted path to the bathrooms. Was end of April so not a ton of people. There were ticks, though ! Will stop again on my travels out west.

We stayed at the Mammoth Cave campground. It is a wonderful campground with spacious sites and was quiet when we were there. We did the Grand Avenue tour of the cave which was perfect. It was 4 hours long and I feel like we got to see a lot of what the cave offers. We kayaked the Green river and were the only ones on it. Overall an awesome few days.

The campground was very nice! It was on par with other nice campgrounds I've stayed at around the country. Our campsite was clean and generally spacious. The bathrooms were surprisingly very clean and I liked that they were mopped each day. The store close to the campground was a nice touch as it had most of the essentials, plus hot showers, a refillable water station and even a post office! Highly recommend this campground.
